12 semi finalist and 4 going to regionals---- seems like many strong teams for their players.

Mostly none. Clubs are buying into these franchises. They get to say they are partnered with such and such club. They offer a camp and "the best go to England" to the club for a week on their parents dime. There is a wave of these "partnerships" going on in metro Atlanta and other places as well. It's the new way to get more money from the parents. No knock on SSA or anybody else doing this. It is what it is!

Will offer club funded trips to Chelsea/England for top players at couple age groups annually, cool uniforms, Chelsea trainers will provide training sessions at SSA during summer, and few other cool benefits.

Help us all, lower fees

If the club can send a few kids or age groups that are 'selected' to travel to Europe at the clubs expense maybe the money is better spent at home. Lets lower fees or give scholarships (not the bs 'scholarship to play select soccer) to club players that excel at school. If the answer is we already give scholarships, I say award more. Family's can visit Europe on their own dime.

You know if your kid play Athena, Classic or Rec they will not be 'selected'.

must make you feel better. Of the 12 semi finalist SSA teams, there are several coaching styles that all brought obvious success.
In reality, boom ball is more a CF phenomena that is also frequently seen in men's college soccer. Get the best athletes and get them the ball.....partly why US soccer still weak.

Enough MORON.....If SSA is boomball or kickball then I suggest all clubs start playing the same way. What other club had the success at state cup that SSA did? None! 12 finalists, 4 champions, and at least 5 teams going to regionals....stop sounding stupid!!!

It won't make much difference for the rank and file members. For the elite teams, it means having Chelsea uniforms.

why don't we partner with an MLS team? Are we selling the kids that they will get a scholarship to Oxford or Cambridge? No.

Promote soccer in the United States.

Add an MLS club in Atlanta or any where for that matter in a reasonable driving range and that's a done deal. However how many clubs in Atlanta have their recreation teams wear MLS kits? CFC does. Sounds like SSA already does more than anyone locally to support MLS.

Your individual rec teams have a partnership

Your individual rec teams have a partnership with MLS teams? Or are they as much a partner with MLS as I am with the Braves for wearing a hat with an A on it?

I suspect the MLS teams that are represented have no idea that SSA wears their uniform.

The key here is 'partnership'. SSA is 'partnering with Chelsea'. Partner with MLS.

Why

No score for this post
June 10 2012, 12:46 PM

What advantage do you gain in partnering with a club in DC, Philly, Dallas?

The fact that SSA's recreation teams wear MLS kits is helping to build the fan base and the future but beyond that how in the world could an MLS partnership benefit the Atlanta market?

Can't share the MLS youth DA's. What possible benefit could there be compared to bringing the european game to Atlanta?

Lets partner with a professional Korean team. Korea is providing jobs for Americans as a direct result of opening the KIA plant. 10,000 jobs at the plant or in support of the facility. Other Korean companies are looking at the Atlanta area.

Come on man, these folks have done so much more for you then Chelsea/The UK. You have a Korean Refrigerator (Samsung), a Korean TV (LG), maybe a Korean car (KIA) you may even be typing your reply on a Korean Cell Phone, tablet or laptop (Samsung). What has Briton done for you lately? Look around your house or flat if you fancy. What items are in your home, car, workplace or anyplace that have a made in the UK label....You soccer coach? Maybe?

Lets do something that will help foster relationships with a nation that brings us more then fish and chips and youth soccer coaches.

Your 'kit' was probably manufactered, in part, in Korea.

They've had affiliations all over the US since 2008. It's a money maker more than anything. They don't need affiliations to ID and sign talent. There are kids that go over to the UK all the time for camps with EPL academies. You get to display a Chelsea logo on the website and pay to attend their training instead of someone else's. They did seem interested in getting associations with US DA. I guess news travels slowly across the big pond.

Jay Howell set up the one with CASL Funny how that stuff works.

operate this organization like little kids with toy trains. 'Wouldnt it be neat if we wear little engineer hats?' That way we can pretend to be real railroad men.

What if we give Chelsea some money? Would they let us wear their costumes? Maybe they will be our friends.

Making decisions is a gay attribute? or being British?
Do you really want them to poll their 6000 members and ask them to raise their hands to see if affiliating with the top British club is a good idea or not?
Grow up.
