SSA is an example of what is wrong with youth Soccer in this State

SSA is what is an example of what wrong with youth soccer. They go for quantity instead of quality. Large numbers of players mean more money for the Gummer and staff. Coaches that suck and can't develop players, or teach team tactics go out and pick the most physical mature for their age players and play red neck boom ball. "Long ball over the top to the big dude up top." Then they think they are geniuses. Developing technical skills and team tactics don't mean spit to these guys. That is why SSA is trying to gobble up as many numbers as possible by merging. This will last a few years and then it will all fall apart. Just look at what happened at CASL. With a huge selection of players to pick teams from they only pick the most physically mature players for the age group to try and compete with Concorde and GSA. The only club that does a decent job of developing younger players is NASA. Then they get recruited away to GA United and Concorde once they are older. Huge clubs are detrimental for player development. CASL finally realized these lazy coaches rely on numbers rather than quality of the players. They dont event take the time to evaluate players. Just look at Academy here in Georgia, size is everything. Messi would never make an Academy team today. First he is too small and second he is not black and fast.

NASA was the original mega-merger!

NASA used to be United Quest and Metro North, two decent but less-than-stellar programs. They joined together and chose the best players from each park to fill their A team rosters, making them very competitive. Now that other clubs have surpassed them in terms of size and competitiveness, they're finding themselves at the back of the pack again, just as they were as two separate clubs.

As for "The only club that does a decent job of developing younger players is NASA" is something of a generalization isn't it? IMHO Tophat on the girls side far outdevelops and outcoaches NASA, while Concorde on the boys' side does the same.

NASA is not at the back of the pack. If you think that you are kidding yourself.

You are so wrong - my kid plays for SSA and is small but very effective on the field. The team is very competitive and my kid has improved. Don't post lies.

The best examples are the rising u12 boys and the rising u17 boys.
These teams consistently defeat those Developed NASA teams.

If it's West that has the best teams and coaches then that won't be much of a threat to NASA? No pre DA aged player is going to move until they know for sure they they won't make it to DA and those after U16 that might benefit from a move to a non DA club will be reluctant to make the switch if they have to travel too far.
