How bad did the new AAAA schools get hit by DA. Marist? Dutchtown?

I have daughters so no impact to me, but curious, is there a conflict between DA and high school play? Can you not play for your HS is you make a DA team?

Yes. Starting this coming school year, DA players will no longer be allowed to play HS.

Not really surprised. High school sports - other than football and probably baseball when you move into high school - have become secondary to club sports. So different than my day when club sports didn't really exist and travel teams were unheard of. I can imagine more and more soccer players in the boys and the girls game opting out of high school play altogether in order to train with their club teams exclusively.

HS basketball is still very strong despite AAU- even baseball waits til the summer before going select- soccer is the only sport opting out of HS play- the money is driving it- all other sports pretty much coexist

the kids still enjoy being a part of the school team. They enjoy the chance to show their skills to classmates and friends not just mom and dad. Don't let the club control your kids school participation.

How do we keep allowing this club BS which sells college scholarships as a reason to play the higher level select and then allow them to stiff arm high school participation. It makes no sense. Don't play in school for a chance to play in school.

If you are a parent that enjoyed the high school experience dont let it be stolen from your child.

Special, perhaps ..... unique, definitely?

"We understand there may be unique situations for a small population of players, such as those in certain private schools, and we are willing to discuss different options and determine a solution so they can participate in the Academy."

There's no rule against it.

Not many private schools actually do, though, despite what you read on the forum.
