Do these results prove a point for USSF or not?

On another topic, why does Vancouver have a USDA team?

If the stated goal is development of US National Team talent, then it seems developing Canadian players would be a waste of time, although I can see that Vancouver would otherwise be a good place to have a team in the Pac NW.

Maybe US Soccer has a longer view of eventually flipping these DA academies over to the MLS and letting them manage them like the Europeans so it's not really about the border any longer but a professionally funded youth development program for the MLS and national team players are a by product.

The #'s do not lie. There was no benefit for 15 & 16yr olds to skip high school play.

The reason is the best 15,16 yr olds are playing against 17 & 18 yr olds in high school.

who made the finals this year played High School in the Spring or Winter. If I'm not mistaken, CF's U-18s in 2010 were the only Spring HS team to make the finals since DA started and they went 0-3 by a combined score of 10-2.

It was an obvious disadvantage to face teams that had been together for 7 straight months when your team had broken up for 4-5 months and re-assembled for the playoffs. It will be interesting to see if southeastern teams that have been breaking mid-late season (winter/spring) will now be more competitive with the rest of the country.
