High School Girls Soccer Team To Wear Helmets
Jul 12, 2012
WALLINGFORD, Pa. -
Girls on a local soccer team will have some extra protection next season, but not everyone thinks it is a good idea.
Girls on the Strath Haven High School soccer team will have to wear protective head gear when their season begins this fall.
The district made the decision to help prevent concussions.
The team's coach, Gino Miraglia, showed us how the helmet works. He said the padding mostly protects the players from head-to-head or elbow-to-head contact. It will absorb some of the shock and keep them safe and on the field.
Strath Haven is the first team in its league to wear the headgear.
We want to hear what you think. Should all high school athletes wear helmets?

No matter what you think of the helmet, how has a referee's action or inaction caused this? Two players going for a 50/50 ball knock heads, or one player catches a shoulder or elbow to the chin or ear. What was the ref supposed to do to prevent that?
maybe a past player???No score for this post

I think the poster that believes the refs are to blame is very likely a past player.
Only someone that has experienced several serious head injuries themselves could be that stupid.
