so why can't we do the same with our soccer ??? what gives?

American sports culture has the game being directed by the coach, telling players what to do, and in soccer, you don't get time outs, etc. with the coach directing players constantly. The sports culture here makes it difficult for players to think creatively on their own. But that is exactly what is required to win soccer games.

Brasil was only in the game because USA couldn't make a 3 point shot to save their life. If Brazil beats the USA in soccer 3-2 would you then leap to say that the USA is just about as good and as skilled as Brazil. You could go and get the 20 or so players that didn't make the U.S. team and they would easily beat the Brazil team. I dare say the reverse would be true for soccer.

You are confusing a scrimmage warm up game for the US with the Superbowl for Brazil. If you really think the US brought the heat and only won by 11 points, then you don't know basketball very well.
