Report from H-town,
We have been to three Honda dealers in north houston. All three are selling pilots for MSRP...no markup. Had a chance to test drive and view several colors. Both my wife and I test drove the pilot and it drives very nice and smooth (keep in mind she currently drives an explorer, '98). my initial impression is that it is large...much bigger than the explorer. nice power during acceleration, but as i said big. this is not a nimble little honda, it is a bonafide mid/large SUV. we liked it and plan to place an order for a black EX-L with DVD package. as for the colors...imho, the black is beautiful, the silver is nice and predictable. did not like the evergreen or the havasu blue/green. i asked about the sagebrush at all three dealerships visited, they do not expect to receive on until end of summer...i would like to see one of these.

For the houston contingent, John Eagle honda plans to provide a customer introduction on Jun 6, 7pm...should provide a nice introduction for those interested in the vehicle.
regards,

I live in Nacogdoches, TX which is a couple of hours north of you. I was told the dealer here would not sell it over MSRP. I figured that with the economic conditions of this part of the country and the lack of desire for 4wd, the Pilot would probably not be marked up too much over MSRP. Did you get a chance to check out David McDavid Honda on I45? I bought my V there and they had the best prices at the time. I went through the internet sales department so you might want to check them out. Thanks for the report.

Do you mind saying which dealerships are selling for MSRP? The dealership in Dallas I am dealing with added $5,000 in accessories.

I'm supposed to get their next Redrock EX-L without all the added stuff, but then again, I was to get the first one as well and that didn't happen.......

So far i've spoken to three honda dealerships in the houston area...Goodson Honda - North, John Eagle Honda on 1960 and the Honda dealership in Conroe. Did not speak with anyone at McDavid Honda. I test drove the pilot at the Conroe Honda. Over the weekend 2 pilots sold at John Eagle and one or two at Goodson.

Given Roberts comment about the economy, i'm wondering if the pilot will sell below MSRP? then again, relatively low supply.
