Since I drove the Pilot on Saturday I have been looking to buy an EX with leather and navigation. I walked into several dealers in central florida this weekend and prices were MSRP + $2,500 - $5,000 markup with minimal add-ons (touch up paint, interior protection, pin stripe, paint cealant, etc.). However, on Sunday night I sent 6 dealers an email with my request for above Pilot. Have heard back from 3 so far (2 I visited on Saturday) and will sell at MSRP with no add-ons. I asked the last internet salesperson why the differences they said "that's the way it is". Have 3 dealers now watching their allocations for my EX in Havasu Blue with leather & navigation.

Interesting idea, but it may not work for everyone. I had a line on one in upstate NY, at MSRP. The dealership sent a memo around saying no sales outside the area (I'm in Boston). Even worse, a friend went to a dealership in So. New Hampshire (20 minutes from our house) and was told they would not sell outside of Nashua, even though she's purchased cars there before! I drove one today, but they want $4000 worth of accessories added. I may go back to the MDX or ML 320 at that price!

Sportsman,

Could you post some of the email addresses? I live in Tampa.

How do you know they are going to come through? Any signed paperwork?

. Go to www.hondacars.com
. Click-on 'Dealers'
. Enter your zip code and hit 'Submit'
. You will see map of your area. Scan down and the 3 closest Honda dealers will be listed (address, email, wesite if applicable). Click-on 'Email Name of Honda Dealer'
. Click-on 'Search for More Dealers' to get additional Honda dealers in your area.

I have now been in contact with 4 dealers in Orlando, Ocala area. Two said they'll sell at MSRP, 1 at $1,540 over MSRP (with some add-ons) and one I'm waiting on a price quote.

No signed paperwork at this point. I have told them what I am doing and am willing to pay MSRP and no higher.
Deland Honda (Joel) said they never sell vehicles for more than MSRP.
Courtesy Honda (Julie) said initial supply of 7 Pilots got add-ons of $2k-$4k. After 30 days will sell over internet at MSRP.
Coggin Honda (Robert) quoted $1,540 above MSRP. Awaiting his reply to 'why?'.

Hope this helps!
