Hi Jimmy,
The album you highlighted is part of the Classic Albums that Bob mentioned in his "I SPY" DVD commentaries. He produced them with his wife Elayne Carroll (Mrs. #1), who had been his drama coach at the University of Washington, before they headed off to Greenwich Village. Bob was 19 and Ms. Carroll was 24 when they got married. (This was all in that TV Guide article with Nancy Culp - Mrs. #2.)
In the "Culp Collection" commentaries, Bob mentions that they recorded these plays in his bathroom in NY, because the room had "superb reverb." (Love it!) Classics in the bathroom - now that is definitely cool!!
They weren't fooling around here - he went straight for some really great classic plays - from Moliere, Ibsen, Sheridan, Christopher Marlowe, Oscar Wilde, and Chekhov ...
I "picked" these photos up along the way from eBay. The albums pop up now and again for sale over there. I have never heard any of these, and would love to - but my old time record player died many years ago. Has anyone heard any of the albums? (Did you mention that you had one, B-L??) We'd love a review, if anyone has heard these!
As always,
Tatia
