Response to Re: Proper Re-release of I SPY DVDs & BEAUTY Is in the Eye of the BEHOLDER ...

I think we are fairly lucky, considering how screwed up a lot of other shows' releases are...I certainly didn't find the compiling of the discs arbitrary, as they were basically season by season, with all the Culp-written episodes bunched up at the end, which certainly is preferable if it meant getting the excellent Culp commentaries...and while the image is occassionally splicey or rough, the episodes generally look quite good -- often, the problems are ones of production (the iffy live-sound from the foreign locales, or flame blow-ups to create closeups where none were shot)....

subtitles would be awesome, and obviously if they were coming out this year they might have some additional extras, but I think the sets are pretty fine as they are...the only concern I have is the jump cut in ONE THOUSAND FINE, I think where Culp and his old buddy are arguing and we suddenly cut to them fighting in the jungle...doesn't it seem like something was edited there? Was that brought up on this board before?

Anyway, I'd dig better versions, but between the book's copious info and the dvds, I'm pretty set...I AM curious about the sets that have come out in Germany, I think (?), wondering if they untilized different elements or had any remastering...
