Hi Jim,
In the early days of the FORUM, "Tatia" posted a bunch of "Bad Bob Movie Reviews" - not that Bob was ever Bad (nope - never, never)

, but some of those movies certainly were ... (if I ever get the old "FORUM Archives" put together, I'll drag them out.)
Not that "Killjoy" would qualify as a full-fledged Bad Bob movie, but it is not stellar. Culp is certainly in full "Bill Maxwell" mode in this one, which came out in 1981, during the early run of "Greatest American Hero." .... Yes, he does have a large part - and certainly do rent the movie just to see a "1981 version of Kim Basinger"!! And rent it if you are a "Bill Maxwell" devotee. And the movie certainly has an interesting cast.
The storyline in "Killjoy" is
very convoluted and twisting, and Culp's character is VERY enigmatic - to the point of wanting to scratch your head and say "Huh? What IS going on with him?" But this is a murder mystery and in true Agatha Christie style, all is revealed at the end. And the cast is an interesting mix. Ann Dusenberry, who plays Joy Morgan, also starred with our Bob in an Angela Lansbury "Murder, She Wrote" episode called "Murder By Appointment Only" which is far superior. (I believe it is a 2nd season episode). Not that Ms. Dusenberry is type-cast or anything, but she gets killed in that one, too. If that one is available on Netflix, go for it.
Here's some photos from "Murder by Appointment Only" from
Murder She Wrote .
Bob LOVES signing autographs it appears ....

How could you think anyone with a face like that could be guilty of anything? .................... Let's drink to that!

Guilty? Guilty? Moi?? ............................. Yeah right, Jessica Fletcher, go get Columbo to try and prove it!!
Ms. Dusenberry and Culp appeared again together in a 1982 "National Lampoon Goes to the Movies" segment called "Success Wanters" ... don't, I repeat don't get that one. Bad Bob, Bad Ann, Bad National Lampoon ...
All my best,
Tatia
