Interestingly enough, a few years ago I met with Harlan to discuss developing "Demon with a Glass Hand" into a TV series. He was very interested, until he realized that if I wrote the pilot, which was the plan, I would get credit as creator and that ended things right then and there. Harlan's house looks like a science fiction memorabilia museum. It's crowded with books, artwork and cool artificats in every room. The outside facade of the house has huge ceramic blocks with Martian letters on each, which he moves around to send different messages (I knid you not).
I had first met Harlan around 1977, at a party at Bob's house. He had just been on the Tom Snyder Show along with the supporting cast from "Star Trek" and he blasted them all. When I approached him. I think he thought I was going to give him a hard time about the show, but instead congratulated him.
I think at various times Bob also tried in vain to revive Trent, but Harlan is known for making things less than easy. Still, he was a scintillating, interesting guy. A true original.
