After I posted the information about France Nuyen being at the next Court's Autograph Show - appearing with her co-star, John Kerr, as a "South Pacific" reunion team

-- I did a little hunting around the internet with her in mind.

And I ran across this Broadway poster of THE WORLD OF SUZIE WONG starring France Nuyen and William Shatner.

And according to this site with information about the Broadway production, the play opened in October of 1958 and ran through 1960 - with 508 performances - and - both France Nuyen and William Shatner won the "1959 Theatre World Award" for their performances.

Ms. Nuyen and Mr. Shatner were reported not to have had the best of working relationships on Broadway, but they seem to have overcome their difficulties long enough for this moment on the Enterprise many years later.

BUT .... what caught my eye on the Broadway Poster was the name of one of the supporting actors -
SARAH MARSHALL (a.k.a. Carol Baines from "Little Boy Lost").

........ and the connections start falling together ........

Ms. Marshall also had her encounters with Captain Kirk in The Deadly Years - as an old love, Janet Wallace (this is the episode where everyone starts to grow old prematurely).

And as Jimmy noted in his review of LITTLE BOY LOST, Ms. Marshall is the daughter of famed stage and screen actor Herbert Marshall. Mr. Marshall was a pivotal character in the movie "The Enchanted Cottage," which was the original title of Mr. Culp's "I SPY" script MAGIC MIRROR. The title was changed when they couldn't get permission to use the movie's title, but his story still remained an homage to the film. As I've mentioned before, I always thought Herbert Marshall would have been perfect for the role of Sir Guy Faulkner, Catherine's father, in "The War Lord." (And hunting around IMDB, I discovered that Mr. Marshall starred in a movie in 1933 called "I Was A Spy" which included a character named "Scotty" - who was played by Nigel Bruce - Dr. Watson in the Basil Rathbone "Sherlock Holmes" movies.)

And "connecting on" .... Ms. Nuyen, who was infamously replaced in the movie version of SUZIE WONG, was replaced by the lovely actress Nancy Kwan. William Holden starred in William Shatner's role.

Nancy Kwan and William Holden in the film version of SUZIE WONG

The film version with Kwan and Holden - looks much like one of "I SPY's" Hong Kong adventures - the Star Ferry, the crowded Wanchai market places, lots of the exotic background location scenes.

Which brings us full circle - around to Kelly Robinson and his counter-part, Robert Culp ...

and to the connection to the beautiful Ms. Nuyen (a.k.a. Mrs. Culp #3, Sam Than McLean, and Mei Lin, the American Empress)

and onto Nancy Kwan, who recently completed the audiobook McKnight's Memory with our man Bob.
(Still nothing more on a release date.)

For more information on McKnight's Memory, check out this posting ...

Whew!! I do LOVE those CONNECTIONS!! ... )

As always,

Tatia
