Hello, all,
Well, I've heard for awhile that the episode "Laya" was the next to discuss. Having an hour to kill tonight I put it in for review. Much was as a I remembered it and I have to start off by saying this is definitely one of my LEAST favorite episodes of the series. I find it very boring, with so many "together" shots of Scotty and Laya, and the overly repetitive, ridiculously reused plot: spy meets girl->falls in love->partner disagrees->big problem ensues->girl winds up in trouble/dead and spy is alone again, moping, and partner is there for support. Sure, it's nice that Scotty gets the angst, but it's boring angst by this time, at least for me.
I did find it humorous that in the opening scene with the obnoxious Troy, Scotty's trousers are too short, like he's some hill-billy just in from the mountains.

) I also enjoyed the quite stylish fight between Kelly and the knife-wielder, whereby we don't hear any sounds of the fight, but simply see it happening with the Grecian music in the background playing. Lots of shots of Kelly just in a shirt, so his luscious broad back was quite evident. (Hey, it's my review!).
Of course, Kelly lecturing Scotty about the whole woman thing "you can't have the love of a good woman" was certainly the pot calling the kettle, uh, well, black but at least Kelly didn't have to drag Scotty back into their hotel room from from the hallway by his legs....
I find it odd, as a person with bad eyes, that Scotty's vision problems seem very sporadic. He has them on sight-seeing with Laya, and then he doesn't have them on sight-seeing with her. He needs glasses running through the street to Laya, but upon getting to her door, he doesn't have them on. It's all quite confusing. And then he keeps harping on Laya for her to wear HER glasses. Funny!
Killing Scotty seemed very stupid, knowing that he had a partner (and a country) who would of course no doubt investigate it and very likely seek revenge.
All in all, this is at the bottom of my list of MUST REWATCH episodes. Sorry, all!
