Response to Hong Kong

So nice to hear that you are enjoying these photos. I certainly enjoyed taking them!!

O.K. ... Today, we are off to VICTORIA PEAK (think "Cup of Kindness"). VICTORIA PEAK is on the island of HONG KONG across the harbor from KOWLOON, where all my photos have taken place so far.

Kelly and Scotty took Russ Conley (David Friedkin) up to VICTORIA PEAK when he first arrived. A trip to the PEAK is an absolute must for all visitors to HONG KONG.

The way to reach VICTORIA PEAK, of course, is by the famous TRAM (or as it is referred to on its website "The Venerable Peak Tram") ...

The TRAM was built in 1888, and except for a period during WWII, has been in continuous operation. (And because Tatia loves "information," she listens carefully to Tour Guides .... ) so I can tell you that the tram is a "a double reversible funicular system" and its route goes from a gradient of 4 degrees up to 27 degrees at its steepest part." This is one very, cool ride!!

THEN ... ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ NOW ...

Here's the TRAM car Kelly, Scotty, and Russ rode ............. and the "retro" classical cars used today.

Kelly, Scotty, and Russ's TRAM car .... and inside the Station today, showing a history of all the versions of the TRAM cars over the years.

And an older tram car on display from the TRAM's 100th Anniversary

The guys' view out the TRAM car ........ and the view today

The railings remain much the same ....

The TRAM Station at the top of the PEAK has changed dramatically since the guys were there ....

The TRAM STATION at the top - NOW ....

The view from VICTORIA PEAK - THEN ....................... and ..................... NOW

I think I found the same viewing area in my NOW photo, as THEN ....

And ... if Russ Conley forced the guys at gunpoint to leave the warehouse district in KOWLOON (after their "Codfish Bomb" escape) to travel all the way over to VICTORIA PEAK on the HONG KONG side by taxi, he better have had one very hefty satchel full of HONG KONG dollars with him - or - he used his gun on the cab driver, too, when it came time to pay!! That would have been one extremely expensive excursion ...

I couldn't find this exact spot, but I did find similar railings still being used in another park

And I have always thought that this shot of Russ, showing his true colors, was taken in some open, circular area. But all of the walkways in VICTORIA PEAK are long, windy pathways - placed at higher and higher levels around the Peak. So after looking at this scene again, it was probably done at the edge of one of these pathways (in the PRE "put railings everywhere so we don't get sued" days).

A ride on the STAR FERRY next time ....

As always,

Tatia (girl photographer working for your entertainment )
