Hi Mona,
Thanks for the good detective work ....
Though not much is listed about this, I found one other article -
This is from
"The Taken - Mutating Parasites Attack Small-Town Camp"
"The plot for The Taken focuses around an secret government camp that casts off ethics to play god. Now the rest of the world is subject to the horrors of this lab, as a foolish youth unleashes the DNA-warping wrath. But it's so much more than just your garden-variety outbreak: Cowan insists this film is also a cautionary tale relating indirectly to the Presidential campaign.
.... Cowan explained the political undertones to his scifi piece:
'What the film is talking about is how becoming the thing you wish you could be can destroy you — just looking at the current political scene, both candidates sold their souls after securing the nomination.'
The film's mutant parasite is actually a representative of a "cascade of negativity," which no doubt will have a snowballing effect on the characters. The familiar faces in the cast include Richard Riehle ("jump to conclusions guy from Office Space), Bryan Krause (Leo from Charmed) and Robert Culp. Filming will continue in Massachusetts until October."

And here's something more on filmmaker Gabriel Cowan on Wikipedia -
"He currently has several projects in development including "The Taken" a Science Fiction thriller that explores the ways in which power, physical/mental/financial, seduce and change people.
In addition, Gabe, along with long time friend, Amiee Clark, founded New Artists Alliance, a production company that funds student directed feature films. Their advisory committee includes some of the biggest names in Hollywood. They endeavor to empower students and young filmmakers by giving them the experience of working on larger films while still in school."

Mr. Cowan sounds like quite an interesting guy .... this is from a short IMDB Bio on him (though IMDB does not list anything about "The Taken").
"Gabriel Cowan has toured the world, playing his music for hundreds of thousands of people, at hundreds of venues, in dozens of countries. He has received two platinum records, and has recorded over ten internationally released albums.
In 2003, he began to pursue his love for filmmaking, earning a masters degree in film directing from CalArts in 2008. While there, he wrote and directed over two dozen short films, co-wrote, co-directed, and produced Breathing Room, a psychological thriller, which was sold Worldwide, produced Family of Four, a drama which follows four family members dealing with their desires and limitations, and directed a documentary on forgiveness and reparations in post genocide Rwanda entitled "Flower in the Gun Barrel".
He has written four more feature films, the first of which is slated to shoot in the fall of 2008.
Gabe founded New Artists Alliance with his partner Amiee Clark. N.A.A. provides funding, marketing and distribution for projects stemming from emerging filmmakers and students."

Sounds like a most interesting "and intense" project ...
Martha's Vineyard in October should be lovely - mutating DNA, not so lovely!
Keep us posted if you hear more Mona.
As always,
