I used to do the same thing (make audio recordings of TV shows). I had a Sony machine (though I have an Akai 4000DS now which I used to play the "location audio" tapes). Mostly I recorded I Spy and Star Trek episodes and the occasional movie (The Wizard of Oz). It's odd to remember back to the days when you didn't have video of this stuff at your fingertips, ready to satisfy your every whim. I particularly liked to listen to this stuff while studying in my dorm room. Some found it odd that I would use all this audio equipment to listen to low-fidelity recordings of TV shows. There will always be philistines.
