This is very cool!!

I recently signed up for Facebook to see some high school photos an old friend had posted. I don't go on very often, but happened to be hunting around the other day, and stumbled across this photo.

It was labeled "Robert Culp's Great-Great Grandfather" ...

Definitely "Suitable for Framing"!

The resemblance is VERY much there - and that famous Culp chin very much in evidence. happy.gif

I was intrigued to say the least, so I broke down and wrote a note to the person who had posted it. I asked if she was teasing, because of this gentleman's close resemblance - OR - if this was for real?? And if it is real, did she have any further information about the photo, his name, when it was taken, how she ran across it?

Well, it turns out the person who posted it is a lovely lady named Sandi Doubleman.

And she wrote:

Yes, it really is his great-great grandfather.
Robert and I are 3rd cousins, though I'm sure he isn't aware of it.
The picture, Harrison Reed, is our great-great grandfather. Harrison, one of the original settlers in Franklin County, KS, donated the land for the Greenwood Baptist Church where he was known as Deacon Reed. The family is buried next to the church which is still operating today. Yes, Robert does really look like the Reed side of the family. My grandmother, Marietta, was named for her aunt, Robert's great-grandmother.

How lovely that her family has kept such complete records of their ancestry. And how charming to have run across this particular photo! ...

And that resemblance has most certainly been passed on to the next generation.

The very talented actor, son Joseph Culp, with his great-great-great Granddad ...

It seems something delightful always happens to pop up in the "Wonderful World of I SPY" around here. happy.gif

As always,

Tatia
