As to that famous (and strange) "jitterbugging shadows" in the opening scene in One of Our Bombs Is Missing, something very strange was going on. I always thought it was very cute, though, too ... Kelly and his date were bopping all around, when they were supposed to be quietly dancing off-screen, while Scotty and his date were dancing romantically on-screen to the slow music. What is strange is that the camera caught their bouncing shadows and that it made it through to the final print.
We did discuss this once before, and Jimmy Mitchell discovered some background
on this scene that was highlighted in Marc and Linda's I SPY Book.

Ive noticed the frantic shadow dancing by Kelly and partner in the teaser to "One of Our Bombs is Missing" as well. It has a surreal quality. Tatia called it 'adorable' and I don't disagree, but of course I could never call it that. Whatever you call it, it's a very odd moment, and I've always wondered how it made it into the finished episode. That is, I wondered until I got to page 220 of the I Spy book.

O.K. here's a chance to see for yourself (thanks to the wonders of embedding ).
(Now if I did this correctly, only the opening scene will play. At the end, you'll be given an option to continue watching the whole episode or stop there.)
Since this is from hulu.com, you'll have to sit through a short commercial or two at the beginning.
O.K. the opening scene from One of Our Bombs Is Missing
.... (the direct link is below) - and a little I SPY title theme to enjoy, too!!
