Update on I Spy book release: It is a small postponement, but days can seem like months. The publishing house, McFarland & Company, had scheduled printing and publication of the I Spy book to take place on December 28th, 2006, the second to last day of their Fall/Winter season. It didn't happen. I wasn't sent the page proofs until the beginning of December, indicating that the editors were a bit backed up. It took me a week to proof the book (all 430 pages) and create an index. I returned all that to the editors pronto, but, while reviewing those proofs, I discovered that a few mistakes had been made concerning pictures being used, and that a couple of the images hadn't printed out to the quality that they should have. Correcting those errors and improving the quality of a handful of pictures resulted in us missing the December 28th deadline by a few days. All is now ready and the book should be printing sometime in the next couple weeks. The latest status from amazon concerning delivery, for the first few days of February, matches what McFarland is telling me. The book will be available in all major book stores, including Borders and Barnes & Nobles, plus through all online booksellers, and also directly from McFarland. I'll keep you all informed should any of this change. Happy New Years, Marc Cushman.

Hey, Marc.
How very kind of you to keep us informed about "The Book".
I've waited 40 years and I expect another month will be okay by me. Thank you so much.
Well, we "I SPY" fans are a hearty bunch and we can wait a bit longer ...
and as dear Aujouret said, if we've waited for 40 years, a little longer is OK by us!!
Of course, we have to have ALL the troops weigh in on this!!
TATIA is very glad Marc spent time making sure the pictures were all right!!
- and hopes they didn't mess up any of her photos ....
Then Kelly heard the news about the delay, but thank goodness Tash was there to help ....
As for Chuang-Tzu and Catherine - they take a Zen-like approach and accept all things with calmness and serenity. Of course, this was after Catherine talked him out of "chopping off all their heads!"
And John Irving was a bit disappointed, but seemed to take the news in stride ....
So it seems unanimous!! We're ALL happy to wait a bit longer for THE "I SPY" BOOK.
We know it will definitely be worth the wait and will be terrific reading!!
Thanks for checking in with us, Marc. It is most appreciated!! And we hope THE Book will be flying off the shelves soon!!

Hello Marc,
Happy new year.
it's nice to let us inform.
I have one question about the book:
do you deal with the music of "I Spy", meaning the importance of the series' soundtrack, perhaps a chapter about the music topic. Let me know if you have elaborated this line?
Thanks.
Best,
Stefan
PS: I accepted Amazon delay. Find my notification:
*Shipping estimate: January 16, 2007 - January 24, 2007
*Delivery estimate: February 2, 2007 - February 12, 2007
There is quite a bit in the book about the excellent music in I Spy - and many quotes from Earle Hagen - and many quotes from others, including Robert Culp, about the importance of Hagen's music.
The fans of I Spy have waited too long for the story of this remarkable series to be told, so Linda LaRosa and I did all we could to put as much information in as possible. One of the publishers interested in this book called our 850 page manuscript "the brick," because of how heavy it was when he took it along to read on a flight to New York. To McFarland's credit, they cut very little. An 850 page manuscript will normally translate to about 425 pages in a book, and that's exactly the length of this one, plus another 25 pages of index and bibliography. Our hope is that even the hardcore fans of the series will be surprised and enlightened by what they read - and that it will take them a long time to read it!
I'll look forward to hearing what you and the others who visit the Forum have to say. You should have your book in a few weeks. Best, Marc Cushman
Again, much thanks for letting us know about the book, Marc. Sounds fantastic. A wonderful long book on "I Spy". What could be better?
I am getting excited just reading your last entry. I so appreciate all of your hard work on this book. So many years I thought I'd never see anything on "I Spy" and could never understand why no one ever wrote about it. My dream is about to come true!
Thanks for the feedback.
I will thoroughly read and read again your book.
I already own previous espionage series companions:
"The Wild Wild West", "Mission: Impossible", "The Man from U.N.C.L.E.".
It will be interesting to compare it with the others.
