And who do you suppose made an appearance at the first-ever Buffalo Niagara Film Festival? None other than our own Mr. Culp. Read all about it at http://www.buffalonews.com/102/story/40770.html.

Regards—

That’s Buffalo, New York, not films made by buffalo.

And That Talented Culp Clan

March 29 2007, 5:48 PM

Thanks B-L,

So glad your "sleuthing" skills are so finally honed ....

That was a most interesting article in the Buffalo News about the first Buffalo Niagara Film Festival. And there were some delightful quotes and advice in there for new film-makers.

Robert Culp and director Tom Holland

"Normally, a question-and-answer period takes place after a picture," Culp said as he settled into his chair on stage, “but that is not the case this evening.

"We will be taking questions from you and from your utter fascination with us and what we do for a living."

and

"Everybody and his dog has come up to me and Tom and says, 'Why are you guys here?' " Culp said. "Well, I have a son pushing 50. He has a credit list of films as long as your arm, and he’s had to quit the business and go do something else because the independent film industry has left the building.

". . . You’re here at the beginning of an old boy network, where the most important thing you can do is network. . . . That’s how the Cannes Film Festival got started after World War II."

"Any creativity has got to come out of places like this," Holland said. "If you make something that people like, you’ll find a way." "Don’t sell out," Culp added.

"No," Holland countered, "sell out for a lot of money. Go out and make your film. . . . And if you can get it seen, they’ll find you."

What especially caught my eye, was our Mr. Culp's comments about his son. I'm assuming he was referring to his very talented son, Joseph , who has made a number of "indie" films. If you'd like to see some flimclips of Joseph in action, check out

http://www.josephculp.com/filmpage.htm

and his home page

http://www.josephculp.com/

Joseph is quite a different actor from his Dad. But I like his very intense qualities - and his intelligence just pours through his performances ... seems the Culp kids inherited "Dad's brightness genes" alright ...

and as long as we are talking about the Culp kids ....

- son Jason does lots of audiobook work with authors like James Patterson, John Irving, Danielle Steele, Louis L'Amour, Elmore Leonard, and many others.

(I don't have a current photo of Jason, but this one will do the job very nicely ... )

Besides working in audiobooks, Jason has done lots of commercial work - (bet you've heard him many times and didn't even know) ...
(again, following Jimmy's lead, delete the "x" at the end to play this ...)

And you can find many of Jason's audiobooks at .....

and

finally, we can't forget talented clothing designer daughter Rachel .

Here's Rachel's terrific website - and you can find her wonderful kids' clothing designs on eBay - under "myDeepBlueC"

http://www.deep-blue-c.com/

and at ebay

Yup, that's one talented Culp Clan ...!!

As always,
Tatia

And a nice behind-the-scenes story from Buffalo.
http://www.buffalonews.com/102/story/43774.html

Might we assume that the person who expressed interest in the Bernese mountain dog was that renowned dog lover Robert Culp?
