Hoping someone can answer this for me. I watched my DVD version of this episode last night and for the life of me I can not understand what brother "Romolo" is saying when he explains what actually happened in Korea. I don't know whether it is the combination of his accent with poor sound quality on the DVD or my TV or what - but I listened several times and couldn't get it.
So could some kind soul please tell me what actually happened with the two brothers in Korea and what Kelly's ultimate involvement was?
Hi Tatia, thanks for the links. It's kind of hard for a new member like me to try and stir up some discussion when it appears that everything has already been discussed. I do like to read the past discussions, but I would love to engage in some real-time conversation, too. I guess that's just one of the drawbacks of not having been here for years like the rest of you.
However, in the links you sent, I did not find an answer to my question. But I did find someone else asking the same question.
We are SO glad you are here, and SO glad that you have been "stirring up" some great conversations and discussions. Please don't take my "references" to past discussions as anything other than "adding" a bit more to the pot. As you could see, those comments were from quite a long time ago, but I thought you might find them interesting.
I hope everyone will contribute some new comments and thoughts about your question. (I have to go re-watch "Vendetta" myself to refresh my memory.)
I think it's great to "revisit" topics we may have discussed earlier, and to have new topics to discuss, because that is the fun of the FORUM - new people, new opinions - and now especially with Marc and Linda's great I SPY Book - we have lots and lots of new behind-the-scenes information to add to the mix.
And it is truly one of the great mysteries of the world why some topics take off into great discussions and others don't - so keep on "stirring," Becca! We are glad you are here and are a valued FORUM-ite!!
Thanks for your kind words Tatia. I have been on some other boards where it was practically a sin to bring something up without checking the archives first - I'm so glad that's not the case here! I've been a fan of I Spy for nearly as long as I can remember, but I am just reconnecting with it again after many years thanks to this forum and the wonderfulness of DVDs. I understand that my renewed enthusiasm might not be shared by everyone though
Hi Becca. First off, I believe Kelly had to send out four men on a very dangerous mission. Remo was not one of the four chosen, but he asked Kelly to be included to keep an eye on his brother Romolo who he knew to be a “screw-up” and who he figured was going to desert. But he swore Kelly to secrecy on this. Then, as Romolo explains, while on the mission, Romolo told Remo that what they were doing was crazy and sure death, and they should turn back. Remo says no, they are going to continue on their mission, and keep faith with the lieutenant. The way he expressed this to Romolo momentarily enraged him, and Romolo shot Remo in the back and he returned with the story about being captured by North Koreans, with Remo being shot. There are parallels to the story of Romulus and Remus from Roman Mythology. I’ve just rewatched the scene in which Romolo confesses, but not the entire episode. Nor have I checked out the links Tatia provided to the previous discussion. But I think this is the essence of what happened.
I had no trouble understanding Romolo on my copy of the episode. It probably helps that I grew up around people who talked like-a that.
