On The O'Reilly Factor, they sometimes do a segment on Friday's called "TV Icon of the Week" and it usually features TV stars from the '50s and '60s. I have often thought how great it would be to see Mr. Culp on there, but frankly I didn't think he would ever do it.
So I was channel surfing tonight and as I'm going past Fox News I see an old TV clip with the caption "Trackdown." Shocked, I stop and I hear Bill O'Reilly talking to ... Robert Culp!!
Unfortunately, I missed the first portion of the interview but just heard the tail end of the Trackdown discussion. Then they talked about Bob & Carol & Ted & Alice and finished up showing a brief I Spy clip with the I Spy theme song playing.
It is going to air one more time in my market in a few hours and I am going to tape it so I have the whole thing. I will try and post a transcript unless someone sees it on You Tube or something.
But if anyone reads this tonite, be sure to try and catch it.
A gal on the "TGAH" board said she watched O'Reilly and thought Culp's speech was a little "slurry", and "one side of his mouth moved awkwardly" almost as if he had had a little stroke. Now, this woman is not in general always on the mark with her comments, however, I thought I'd ask Becca or anyone who saw the show if they noticed anything untoward in that regard. It seems to me that we'd have heard about this if it had really happened, which I hope hasn't!
Mona, regarding his speech pattern, I certainly didn't see anything that looked TIA/CVA-like. If anything I thought his speech sounded like that of an older person whose dentures are not a perfect fit. But there was no facial droop or anything like that and mentally he's sharp as a tack.
