A stupid question

Hello again from Germany!

After I had answered a photo quiz of Bulwer-Lytton's he told me that my English would be very good, so I hope that nobody will laugh at me for this question.

I would like to know what the expression "Or else my refrigerator is a pink cat, too" means. Probably it's an "I Spy" ad-lib, but I fear I haven't watched the series enough in English so that I cannot translate it.

Thanks for your patience.

Have a nice day,

Paully the Kid

No, a Good Question ...

Hi Paully,

Nice to hear from you.

Your English IS excellent - FAR better than my attempts at other languages.

Please, let me explain the comment I made about "My refrigerator is a pink cat."

When Lindy wrote from Japan the other day, I wanted to response to her with a Japanese phrase.

So I tried several of those "on-line translators" for the phrase "Goodbye, new friend" .... well, each one gave me a totally different answer. And most of them made no sense at all, when I tried to translate them from Japanese back into English.

What I trying to say was that I hoped my efforts at Japanese (using the on-line translators) didn't turn out to be a total "nonsense" phrase - like "My refrigerator is a pink cat."

Though, come to think of it ... it does sound like something "hip and cool" Scotty or Kelly might have said .

Check the end of this posting, it was the one above Bulwer-Lytton's - and she was just responding to what I had said.

When some of the "I SPY episode titles" websites from other countries are translated into English (with these on-line translators), there are often some very funny results.

Have you had the same experiences translating things into German, Paully??

All my best,

Tatia
