Our Mr. Culp's very, very talented son-in-law, Danny O'Connor, put together a website you won't believe!!
Of course with plenty of input from Kelly Robinson, Chuang-Tzu, Hoby Gilman, Bill Maxwell (... you get the idea! )
The graphics are fantastic and the INTRO will blow you away! TRUST ME on this!!
There are wonderful sections including a detailed BIOGRAPHY, a terrific PHOTO section, and a FILM CLIPs area ....
AND
.... there is a STORE for purchasing your Culp goodies! They have photos and scripts personally signed by Robert -
PLUS - a huge variety of items (some very unique) that will appeal to every Kelly, Bill, and Robert Culp fan out there!! You HAVE to check this out for yourself!!
What a great site for all the Robert Culp fans out there ....
Have fun!! GO EXPLORE!! And turn up the sound!!
I like the montage of various Culp shows at the start (it says you can click on 'skip' if you want to get to the site proper - but it would be a shame to do this.
And the opportunity to buy some scripts. Can't be bad.
Presumably the site is going to be developed, but for now, this is pretty good already.
It is very nice visually, thought awfully slow to load on my work computer (at home it was fine). Indeed, the montage at the beginning was actually my favorite part of the site...I'm sure it will get developed more (or likely will anyway), but a little more content on the inside would be cool.
As for the items for sale, there are some pretty funny Robert Culp items for sale via CafePress...but the scripts at $50 bucks each? It was cheaper to get it in person and shake his hand...
Still, it's nice to see some of the obscure scripts for sale (Rifleman, Trackdown...) -- if he'd sell that SUMMER SOLDIERS script he wrote for Peckinpah (or any other unproduced feature) I'd be over the moon...
But a good site overall, with nice production values!
I’m impressed with the Robert Culp site too, most especially the intro, but also with the array of items for sale. The maternity T-shirt with Mr. Culp’s picture on it, and the “classic” thong (also with his picture) particularly intrigue me. By the way, in what sense can a thong be “classic”? Maybe someone will model one for us!
Yes, the intro is really nice and the loading from link to link is very quick, not distracting at all. Overall I found the website to be terrific! I really enjoyed
wandering through it. It's not the same old site; it's got some real unique style to it, as does our Mr. Culp!
A couple of things I'd change:
1. I wish the bio section didn't just leap from page to page on its own, but let the reader move ahead at her individual pace, as I wanted to savor reading
the info and didn't always finish in time before the page changed. So, I had to go back to the bio a couple of times to get through it all.
2. As a Bill Maxwell fan, I disliked the crazy bizarre shot of him in those red/white/blue glasses--that other photo of him was quite nice (the one I bought from Culp back
in November). I wish there was a different way to represent Maxwell on the CafePress items than that odd caricature of that complicated and wonderful character.
I am simply being the messenger here from the Maxwell fans at the TGAH forum, and was asked to ask you to share this note with Mr. Culp and his son-in-law. Although the website is overall loved, and greatly appreciated, the general graphic of Maxwell picked for for the CafePress items on Culp's website, the fairly hideous misrepresentation of Maxwell--who does not wear a leather "Fonzie" jacket, does not have an enlarged lower lip, and is so much more handsome than the graphic allows--is unfortunately 100% disliked by all Maxwell fans, including that coloring of his aviator glasses. Is it possible to have that graphic changed for a different, realistic photo of our wonderful Maxwell so folks are drawn to buy more Maxwell oriented items?
Though I cannot speak for Mr. Culp, I have to assume that since he and his son-in-law labored an entire year on the website, he clearly approved the Maxwell image. My guess is that he chose a photo that did not violate any copyright infringement of the Steven J. Cannell Company, who created and produced "The Greatest American Hero".
I hesitate to bring your complaint to Special Agent Maxwell in person, as he would probably grab me "by the Garbanzo beans!!!"
Thanks for your response; I really appreciate it. God knows I would not personally wish to be grabbed by Mr. Culp...uh...hmm...wait a second...
Okay, anyway, I understand your reticence in this regard. Would copyright be an issue, though, with Mr. Culp using one of those great photos he has of himself as Maxwell--I bought one of those he signed at the October Celebrity event in LA last year. A real great shot of Maxwell with hair amiss, aviator glasses on, serious look to his handsome face, shirt widely unbuttoned. That would be terrific on the Cafepress items. But, I'm terribly ignorant of all things copyrighted.
Okay, okay, I'm going to stop nagging. I apologize for doing so. And I apologize to this forum for concentrating momentarily on "TGAH" instead of "I Spy". I really do appreciate your reply, Sir, and I understand. Thanks for the communication.
In truth Mona, I was only speculating. I don't know why he chose the image he did. The next time I see The Man ( I need to return his VHS copy of "The Man from U.N.C.L.E.") I will ask him in as delicate a way as possible.
