Hi!
According to this site, it looks like our Mr. Culp is going to be on THE GREATEST AMERICAN HERO panel at the mega-huge Comic-con in San Diego this week. I understand that everything there is sold out, but for those of you going, let us know if you are able to get into this panel discussion.
Here's the blog mentioning all the details .... William Katt and Connie Selleca will be there also, and a video-taped introduction by Stephen Cannell will also be presented. The panel will be on Thursday, July 24 at 12:30-1:30pm in Room 7AB - San Diego Convention Center.
That is very interesting Tatia. I had scanned the Comic-Con schedule of events and noted this on the Thursday schedule:
12:30-1:30 William Katt: Greatest American Hero Comic— Join Alex, Justin, and Pete from Pulp Secret for one of the biggest announcements at this year's Comic-Con, an event that's been 25 years in the making. Catastrophic Comics' William Katt (Greatest American Hero), Christopher Folino (Gamers), and Derek McCaw (Fanboy Planet) along with Arcana Studios' Sean O'Reilly (The Clockwork Girl) are on hand for an interview and Q&A. Room 7AB
As you see, no mention of Robert Culp or Connie Selleca. I had tentatively planned to attend barring some other obligation, but now I’ll make it a priority.
Yes, I saw the same "blurb" that you posted - about the TGAH session at Comic-Con - on their on-line program of events. And they also have a "What's New" section, but with no mention of any additions to this panel, either.
Hopefully, this blogger's information is correct - and he did have that TGAH mini-video to offer, also.
Too bad Mona is away. She might have more information.
Anyway, we are looking forward to your full report ...
Have fun and don't get lost in the crowds of Supermans, Batmans, Imperial Storm Troopers, and Wonder Women.
Thanks for the concern Tatia. I will try real hard to avoid getting trampled (or inadvertently goosed by an errant sword or scepter) by all the Batmen, Supermen, Wonder Women and families of Klingons, not to mention the hordes of women dressed in Sailor Moon gear.
However, sometimes, despite a pure heart and the best of intentions, you can’t help but lose focus for a second.
That’s when unfortunate accidents happen.
I will do my best to check out the GAH panel. I hope Robert Culp and Connie Selleca do show up. I have to confess I’m curious to see the Katt-Culp-Selleca dynamic first hand!
I just returned today and found out about this marvelous panel in San Diego happening on Thursday. Of course, I raced to Southwest Airlines online and found I could get there and back on Thursday for a Culp-worthy $250. Before I pressed all the buttons, though, I found out the comic-con is sold out, and no one can register online or at the site. Disappointing!
As far as I know, yes, Culp, Katt and Selleca, as well as "Danger" Malone (stunt man) are going to be there on the panel. The idea of an original comic book of the series, with the original characters is very exciting for TGAH fans, as you can imagine. A fellow called Collazo at the TGAH.com site is supposedly putting out an original fan web series, but so far has only put out 6 minutes of the first webisode. However, it is a modern view based on GAHeroine, which most of us fans, but not all, find horrendous, even though Culp was gorgeous in it. But, we loathed the plot and the Stuart actress and another precociously obnoxious brat child, a favorite of the 1980s. So, anything related to the original series is wonderful! We are, of course, quite proud that Cannell admits that TGAH is his best selling show, even though many others were on the air longer.
I shall wait for the panel to show up on YouTube; someone hopefully will put it there for general viewership.
Thanks for the additional information. So sorry to hear that you won't be able to get to Comic-con. Well, apparently you can get there, they just won't let you in! I understand that the registration had been sold out for awhile. Comic-con sounds like one vast, mega-huge enterprise.
Let's hope our intrepid Jimmy Mitchell will be able to ace his assignment and get into the GAH session - and that he takes copious notes and clicks feverishly away with his handy-dandy spy camera.
If you or your TGAH friends do find anything on YouTube, please let us know.
And Agent Mitchell ... be on the look-out for any extra Superhero capes, in case you run across that young lady in black again. She definitely looks in need of a nice big cape to keep the chill away!
