We Watch So You Don't Have To - Part 2 .... THE GLADIATOR

And another one - a full movie this time ...
GLADIATOR (1986)
Bob plays yet another grumpy police lieutenant in one of his many "cop" roles ...
This one comes in 15 parts - and stars Ken Wahl (Wiseguy) and Nancy Allen (Robocop).
Here's an IMDB synopsis:
"A homicidal maniac is on the loose, killing motorists at random in his "death car" - after losing his brother to the twisted assassin "Skull," Rick Benton becomes a vigilante, and takes it upon himself to hunt down the reckless drivers that fill the streets at night. Being a master mechanic, Rick spends his time converting his pickup truck into an armed and dangerous vehicle - with speed to take on the fastest car, and strength to make sure in a one-on-one situation, he will be the only survivor. The cops soon find out about the vigilante known only as the "Gladiator" and do all they can to catch him before his citizen's arrests go one step too far - but will they find the Gladiator before the Gladiator finds Skull? When the two finally meet, it's a duel to the death and maybe an end to Rick's career as the vigilante."
You get the idea!! Not one of my favorites, folks - but happy to pass it along so you can add another notch to your Classic Culp Viewing Experiences.
Bob is in and out in this Movie of the Week, but you can see him in action at the beginning of Part 9.
Don't worry about coming in at the middle - it honestly makes no difference. Enjoy!
Gladiator is actually made by a noted director, Abel Ferrara, who later did BAD LIEUTENANT, KING OF NEW YORK, BODY SNATCHERS and other stuff. I doubt Culp knew who he was at the time, and indeed, Culp just kinda walks through the grumpy detective part. I sat through the whole thing, but as a tv film it was a too neutered arena for Ferrara, who usually works in hard-R territory. Definitely Culp fans can skip around, but this is more BREAKING POINT territory than HANNIE CAULDER territory...
