Here's what he wrote:

Here's the link (give it a few seconds to load):

http://lodingo.com/_product_10886/McKnights_Memory

Anyone can go to the front page of at www.lodingo.com, upper right says "Sign up and get $10 spending money." Click there, enter your email and they will email you a coupon number for $10 off on anything, thusly getting Mr. Culp's new performance for $4.97, by using the coupon.

The $10 coupon is available on

http://www.lodingo.com

On the McKnight's page there is a 2 minute sample of Mr. Culp confronting his love Nancy Kwan for helping the killers.
You'll also hear Frank Sinatra Jr. narrating the intro to that scene.

As the very bottom of the McKnight's page you will also see Rock Star Rising link that co-stars Mr. Culp. Its price is now also $14.97.

Mr. Culp was really serious about this project and worked two long days in person with all the supporting stars to get it down. And a complete day with Nancy Kwan as well. You'll love his performance.

The download web site is easy to remember: lodingo.com and they can search from there, if they don't have the link.

Let me know how the fans like it.

Paul

Here's my article on Directing Robert Culp:

Recording with Robert Culp

When Robert Culp walked into the recording studio he was carrying his marked up script for McKnight's Memory and a whole lot of TV and film history. I always make it a point to not immediately go into the work at hand, but to welcome the actor and mention my favorite parts of films they did. I also try to have something of one of their films to give them. And not as a conversation piece, but as coming from a true fan. Since Mr. Culp was in three Outer Limits shows, I gave him the DVD box set.

I mentioned to him that I had heard that his The Outer Limits episode Demon with a Glass Hand was the number one watched hour program in the history of television. He said, "That's right and also the highest cost to profit ratio in the history of television." After looking over the episodes on the back of the box, Mr. Culp got right into questions about the character he would perform.

He had made notes in his script and we went through them. As Mr. Culp is a writer as well as actor, I knew I'd better have good answers to his questions. Robert Culp started off in Broadway, and then jumped to starring in the TV western, Trackdown for two years where he began writing scripts and for The Rifleman, as well.

His big break came with I SPY on TV and then for movies with Bob & Ted & Carol & Alice. He started directing in the second season of I Spy and the feature film Hickey and Boggs appearing with Bill Cosby again. He appeared on countless TV shows including costarring on the series The Greatest American Hero, while still appearing in features such as The Pelican Brief as the president.

After going over his script notes he got into the recording booth for his first scene with Nancy Kwan. We had recorded for an hour and I didn't have to give any of the actors any direction, but I felt I had to say something to Miss Kwan beside what the next scene was and 'action'. So I pushed the talk button and said, "Miss Kwan. You are doing a perfect blend of voice and performance." She said, "Thank you", and Mr. Culp added, "Yes, you really are."

When Mr. Culp finished and it was time to say good-by. I told him, "The next time you see "Hannie Caulder" listen to the way you say my favorite one word line, 'Winchester' when your are surrounded by bandits and want Hannie to throw you your rifle without them knowing it." He said, "Okay, I will. And thanks for the DVDs.", waved and headed out the door only to be stopped by fans at the elevator asking for autographs which he happily gave.

Very, very nice to have our man Culp entertaining us anew!!! And what a stellar cast, including 2 "I SPY" alumni - Henry Silva and H.M. Wynant.

Henry Silva - Dr. Akivic in "Anyplace I Hang Myself Is Home"

H.M. Wynant - Manfred (the Bad Guy) in "Apollo"

And A Bit More on McKnight's Memory ...

June 26 2009, 12:31 AM

Hi again,

I just downloaded "McKnight's Memory" and am very much looking forward to hearing it!! I have to admit that I found that audio clip pretty intriguing.

The download went very smoothly, and I was able to use the $10 coupon posted on their site.

I also heard from the people at Lodingo - very nice folks down in Australia.

For your "I Spy Forum" you need to know that as of next week we will be taking the $10 coupon offer off of the home page.

You can still use the link if you wish http://www.lodingo.com/gateway_pages/10GiveAway-Lodingo - but we will be changing it. We are about to release a series of discount clubs and that page will become an introduction to these clubs for now. As soon as the clubs are launched you will receive an email from our overall discount club that will be offering McKnight's Memory for just $7.49 .... and offering exclusive discounts to its members.

Also Paul Kyriazi wrote that he is planning to have some CDs of "McKnight's Memory" available in October.

O.K. that's all the updates I have ... so considered yourselves "updated."

As always,

McKnight is here!

July 1 2009, 7:31 AM

Thanks for keeping up with this, I'm only checking in every coupla weeks, I'm teaching a summer course, raising a 22-month old...

That clip is...interesting. I think there should be a drinking game every time that Culp says "mall" in this clip!

My favorite line: "Somebody tried to kill me...at the mall!"

This should be a lot of fun, even if it ain't Uncle Vanya!

How long does it take to get the coupon? I signed up and clicked the newsletter verification link, do they send the coupon the same day? I'm ready to order, but I'm not $14.97 worth of ready!

Did You Hear From Them?

July 2 2009, 12:07 AM

Hi Jim,

Have you heard from the Lodingo folks yet? I had to wait a bit, but they e-mailed me back within a few hours.

They did say they were re-doing things this week - that note from them last week said ...

(I just checked and the link works.)

If you still haven't heard from them, their e-mail address is:

customerservice@LoDingo.com

I heard from 2 very nice ladies there. If you haven't heard from them, you can write to them directly and ask about the pricing. Let us know.

I've listened to about 1/2 of McKnight's Memory so far and I'm enjoying it very much. It reminds me of the Culp audiobooks from the late 80s, early 90s - with music and full sound effects. It is done as a full audio play and most entertaining to listen to ... with Frank Sinatra, Jr. as the narrator. There's lots of great character actors involved.

Bob plays a sort of straight Bill Maxwell character in this (a head guy at the CIA) who has lost his memory while on an operation (of course, he has been set-up and doesn't know who he can trust). Perhaps the older Kelly he played in "I SPY Returns" would describe his character, also. All the unknown threads are coming together, as the story builds - who is really trying to get him - and what group has set him up and why?

Bob has had several scenes with H.M. Wynant so far. And there's lots of excellent scenes with Nancy Kwan as the Asian femme fatale (I know it's the lovely Ms. Kwan's voice, but I can't help picturing France Nuyen!) Henry Silva is also in it as the head bad guy, but he hasn't come in as yet. (Watch out Kelly - that's really Dr. Akivic and I bet he's still holding a grudge!!!!!) And there's Don Stroud, Edd Byrnes, David Hedison - and a bunch of other fine actors in the cast, too. (See below.) Anyway, so far, so good - definitely entertaining. It runs over 3 hours.
