Hi Herbie (and everyone),
Glad you enjoyed "Man from Salinas" ... me, too!
And in the "he's worked with everyone out there twice" category, our Mr. Culp has occasionally worked MORE than twice with some actors.
And one of them is Jack Hogan.
Jack played Rudy Gray in the "Man from Salinas" RIFLEMAN episode (1962) ...
and as you mentioned, Herbie, he was Kirby in the COMBAT series.
Bob guest-starred in an episode called "Hill 256" (1963) where he
tries to get Kirby's character court-martialed.
Jack also appeared in an unaired pilot that starred Bob (which never made it to the airways, but bops up to the surface on eBay and ioffer here and there). It's titled
Now Is Tomorrow (1958).
It was part of an anthology series with Charles Bickford as host. The story with Bob and Jack was about a military base, where men were trained to push - or not push - THE button in the event of war. Jack plays Bob's roommate. Definitely done during the height of Cold War paranoia, but it also had some futuristic, science-fiction twists. Let's just say the guys don't do so well under all that pressure, especially our Bob. It is so bizarre, it is truly wonderful!!!
AND the two also appeared in
Houston We've Got A Problem (1974) a pretty well-done made for TV movie about the people at Mission Control people during the Apollo 13 adventures. Bob plays Steve Bell, head of re-entry crew who has severe cardiac problems. Sheila Sullivan (Mrs. Culp No. 4) plays Mrs. Bell, and Jack Hogan has a smaller role as Cap. Com. Joseph Kerwin.
And I have to thank Mona for mentioning ioffer the other day.
I hadn't been over there in years, and they have quite a treasure trove of Bob and Bill items.
ioffer is what eBay used to be with lots of Mom and Pop sellers often putting up their own copies of things (videos/photos/etc.) vs. the more commercial-like sellers on eBay these days.
I saw some really rare videos over there, that I had never seen for sale anywhere before. There also seems to be far more security and safeguards up on
ioffer than there were years ago.
Definitely worth checking out ...
