It sounds like Erin Torpley will be the new Belle Black and will start taping scenes on June 28 to begin airing in late July. TPTB wanted to go with an unknown but decided on Erin who is 23 in real life.
Sadly, Peggy McCay is still holding out on returning to DAYS. Seems she wants to be back on contract and they are only offering her recurring status. Sadly Suzanne Rogers in only back on recurring status as well. The only dead returning on contract are Frances Reid of course and James Reynolds, Josh Taylor, Thaoo Penglis and Matt Ashford. The four men's contracts are either for one year or two. And as I was reading some posts from last night, one poster said Frank Parker was on recurring status, but he is still on contract, but it doesn't seem likely he will be staying on contract much longer. Also Jan will be go right after labor day and from what I understand Crystal should be gone right after Wimbledon.
It is beginning to look more and more like James E. Reilly will be returning to just writing PASSIONS by the end of the summer. I can no longer say what is going to happen to future storylines as it looks like the new-Salem storyline may be wrapped up right after the Olympics now. If this happens, you can look for several departures this fall as the cast will likely be cut to about 24 characters, and you can look for the return of a few favorites as TPTB are in talks with a former head writer to return from DAYS hayday when the ratings were good!
I would like to tell you guys more, but the likely departure of JER and the end of the new-Salem storyline basically has everything up in the air. The DAYS ahead are unsure contrary to all of the other posters that are supposedly in the know. I think NBC Daytime will be making an announcement about Torpley next week and an announcement about JER after Wimbledon, after the Fourth of July.
For the matter of the host, from what I have been led to believe it is Victor plain and simple. He was the only one not killed by Marlena and had specific reasons for wanting most of the island residents silenced especially Abe, Jack, Roman, Tony and Caroline. Back home he wanted Nicole and John to suffer. Nicole for obvious reasons and John because he went up against him directly in business, hired his ex-wife against him asking him not to, and because he feels John is in part to blame for Isabella's death. This is the reason why he set Marlena up for the murders to bring embarrassment on John. Now I don't know how this will play out now, but from what I understand that was the plan, and it also called for Colin to still be alive. So I am not sure what is going to happen now until TPTB decide how they are going to proceed with the show.
DaysInsider posted the above over at Coffeerooms. This comes to a shock to me because I thought that the storyline was supposed to go on into early 2005. AlexB, is this information legit?
I will bet dollars to donuts it is for short term only. Given everything that girl has going on (I love her so I follow her) I bet she agreed(if she did) to come on to wrap up story or to write Belle off until a permanent replacement and/or KS returns. That I can see, but I cannot see Erin signing on longterm.
As for the rest...if it's true..the only happiness I see is JER leaving.
JER has brought this show out of a ratings slump. If you remember correctly, the only reason days is still on the air is because Reilly joined. Although i don't agree with all of his stories...its a hell of a lot better than the last writer..Dena Higley. She practically ruined the show with her pathetic GOOP story and Bo and Hope's bounty hunting not to mention John and Marlena's untrustworthyness (they built their relationship on trust) so before you go bashing the writer you ought to be thankful we don't have a pathetic writer like Dena Higley again. And you have to admit JER is good at surprises!

for the show. The ratings have been as bad as Higley also. And good at surprises--he's been pretty predictable as far as I am concerned. And by the way, DAYS deal with NBC took place before JER and was not dependent on him.
I don't buy it at all. First off, Days Insider would know how to spell Erin Torpey. Second, he would never post all this information at once. Just like Chill wouldn't. He'd give a little bit at a time. As for Peggy, it was already confirmed that all ten were coming back, not were in negotiations. And James, Josh, and Thaao HAVE two year contracts. Not one or two. So that's very revealing to the legitimacy. And, Matt has a three year contract. As for Reilly leaving, I would love for it, especially is another former HW returned, one who can write for most of these characters. But again, I'm not buying into this. This is too far ahead for me to invest in. If it's true, that will come to pass in time. For now, I choose not to buy it. Too much information that has a long way before it comes to pass, so nope, not buying it.
I don't think Reilly is going anywhere either. He has the umbrella storyline in place and the Days writers etc, will fill in the rest..I think he will stay HW. JMHO

I just want the old Belle back. I'm trying to get used to the new one but even when she's with the character Shawn, you can tell they don't have as much chemistry with each other on camera as KS and JC did. Kirsten's other show didn't work out, I think it ended up getting cancelled and I don't think she's doing any other projects. I wish she would come back to the show, it's wierd when she's been the character of Belle for so many years and then leaves ya' know?
