A soap with a little romance, family values, a bit of mystery and NOT as depressing as MY life! DOOL isn't fitting any of those right now. Suggestions please! What should I watch. Must currently be available on broadcast TV (no cable).

I find the Young and the Restless and The Bold and The Beautiful, interesting. By the way, Im not sure if B&B is a spinoff of Y&R but it may be???

ATWT (some the present stuff is not bad but I loved it hwen Marland wrote for it)
GH has had a few good stories, esp. BJ's heart

I have also a few tapes of Search for Tomorrow and Another World!!

If it were me who was sick of dool, I'd use the time to maybe read a good book?

Thats a really great idea. It's what i have been doing. I highly recommend Marian Keyes, Sheila O'Flannigan or even Claudine Cullimore. All from the UK but have a bit of romance, family and comedy. you will love them....

Thanks for all the suggestions. I HAVE been reading a lot more books lately and checking out old videos from the library, too. I'll have to check out those authors.

Many, MANY years ago I watched As the World Turns, The Guiding Light, and the Edge of Night. I got hooked on Dark Shadows for a bit and watched the Young and the Restless. Even watched a bit of Port Charles a few years ago--it was too supernatural for me. (I outgrew Dark Shadows, besides it got cancelled.) I'm a fairly "new" DOOL fan. I watched a few years ago, then quit, then started back up again.

I've decided to limit myself to ONE good soap. Most of the ones I grew up on are gone, that is why I'm asking for suggestions. I have hopes that DOOL will improve, but I'm not holding my breath.
