I agree that the show is bad right now, but I don't think it's because of the lack of DiMeras... For me the problem is dragging out storyline, repeating things, unblanaced cast, silly plots with very little reality..... I would be fine if DiMeras never showed up again, of course, if they gave us another good villain.
I'm really not concerned if there is a DiMera on the show, even though I really do like the character of Tony. However, there needs to be some type of villain -- and I do mean villain -- not just somebody that schemes to get their way (Ex: Nicole, Sami, Kate, Bonnie, etc.). Remember when Victor was so mean? Remember when he had his henchmen blow up that house?
I'm still watching DAYS on occasion, but I really don't know what is going to save this show. I'm in the minority, but

*I can't STAND Billie, Brandon, Chloe, Phillip
* I don't want to see Roman played by anyone other than Wayne
* I don't care if Marlena & John EVER get back together - John & Kate are HOT!
* I want Sami, Lucas, & Will to be a happy family
* I don't like Jack & Jen unless they are on one of their screwball adventures - they are great comedians!
* I like Victor & Caroline together, but I also liked Victor & Nicole. Brady needs to go on a LONG vacation!
* I absolutely LOATH the way the character of Marlena is written -- Deidre is SO wrong for the part. She needs to be doing comedy. She was HILARIOUS as the "psycho seriel killer" and as Hattie.
* JER needs to quit writing for DAYS and stick with PASSIONS. I enjoyed him there because that is what I watched PASSIONS for -- the hocus-pocus, far-fetched storylines. That is NOT what DAYS is about and TPTB should know that by now judging by what all these msg boards say every day.
I can barely stand to even fast forward through the show these days. Reilly is massacring relationships and history left and right. I would swallow any plot device to make this whole Salem Stalker/New Salem story line go away (and Reilly!) and get back to the DAYS I haven watched since '71. Someone wake me when this nightmare is over. Hey, there's an idea!........
* Plot Holes - I know it is fiction and something things need to be ignored, but I am fustrated and pushed to my limits in this area.
* Lack of fun anymore (and not I don't consider Bonnie and Julie fighting to be fun, I mean Jack & Jennifer adventures or even when Bo and Hope took Shawn-D and Belle shopping. Ideally, it would mean Vivian&Ivan or Eugene too, but I understand ideal isn't always possible). Right now, only Bart and some zingers from Nicole provide any sense of fun.
* The Twenty-somethings - I am just tired of them. Maybe if there was an interesting story, but I never cared for this grouping. I liked Sami and Lucas when they were this age, I liked Bo and Hope when they were this age, but these characters just aren't enjoyable to me.
* Under-used veterans. DOUG & JULIE (for one not that I am obsessed or anything). I read people want to kill of Shawn for Victor and Caroline, well whatever happened to a good old fashion soap triangle? Will we be treated to Maggie back in form when she finds Mickey? For that matter I still think a Maggie/Victor pairing could be fun. Where is Jack? Jennifer use to be spunkie, where is the Jenn we all enjoyed watching? And is Billie really the ONLY think that can cause trouble for Bo and Hope? Surely, there is a better way to get them screen time.
* I want Lucas, Sami, and Will to be a family - make Brandon go away. These two can be a couple and still have interesting stories. Sami will always find interesting stories if the writers allow.
In fact, I had been watching mainly for Sami and Lucas, but now with Brandon there I just don't want to watch the show anymore, which is sad. I miss "MY" Days.
Well it is nice to hear someone that will miss the DiMeras like myslef. I also agree with you that the 20 something characters today cannot hold a candle to Bo/Hope, and Sami/Lucas. Also, I have always wanted John and Kate to hook up. Kate is so hot. I don't know about Victor being the same villain he once was. I mean, the show has butcher his character so bad that him becomming a super villain again would be hard for new viewers to accept. I am surprised that the DiMera's aren't as important to as many of you as I thought. Just with how the show has been going, major story lines involving characters like Philip, Rex, and Mimi are going to be UNWATCHABLE. Dedre as the serial killer was great too. Just be honest with yourselves. The only reason any of us have been watching for hte past 2 years was the chance that Stefano would have come back...I mean thats what all the story lines have been hovering around. The fact that Joe Mascolo is not in Salem now shoes Riely's stupidity. The death of Stefano was such a cop-out. And they better not bring JM back for a flashback scene of his death, that would be the ultimate dick-tease.

John and Marlena- John has never given whoreKate a second glance. The only way JER can even attempt this pathetic pairing is to completely distroy the character of John Black. He is being written completely OOC. JER has to have Marlena believed to be dead twice just to force a pairing on us that the majority of the fans do not want.
Jand & Jennifer- Basically the same thing. Jennifer would never have given Patrick the time of day with Jack around. Again JER has to makes Jack believed to be dead twice to try and force another asinine pairing.
Bonnie and Mickey- Enuff said!
Bo and Hope- Billie's back and Bo is all concerned for her. Blah, blah, blah. And now the possiblity of "Chelsea" being "Georgia", Lord I hope that's not true!
The Scooby Doo gang is on far to much! Stop showing the 20somethings already. They should not be on every single day!

I think Veteran's should have more airtime, example look at Y&R they still used Veteran's and over 20 something on show,they mixed range with age. Y&R is reals best Soap Opera on daytime so fars with Familie Core,Romance.

I totally agree, the Dimeras are the only reason this show is surviving. I mean, we are being forced to watch a bunch of whiners (Belle, Phillip, and the rest of the young group) and boring Lumi storylines, and please Tony is a samurai master and John doesn't stand a chance against him in a sword fight. I LMAO when John got hurt.
If the Dimeras leave the show, so does this viewer.

Its so sad when the only reason to watch Days is for a character, Stefano, who has been gon for 3 long years and will continue to be gone longer cuz Reiley sucks. I'm not watching this show until there is a DiMera back, and that does not include Rex. what a sellout. I am so happy that the Queen of the Night is gone again to make Johns life miserable. The only Dimera I care about is Stefano, if we can't have him, Joe ONLY! no recast, just get rid of Tony and bring back Orpheus. Or make Victor the bad ass of Salem again, I loved him as the villan. I think Tony makes a pathetic villanand I would gladly watch without one single Dimera on the show.
Oh and I would LOVE Sheri Anderson to come back as head writer. She was amazing!
I agree partly. I never cared for Tony as a villian, atleast I prefered him as a good guy or a grey guy. I always liked the Tony who tried to come out from under his father's shadow. The one who use to be friends with Alice. That is the Tony I loved.
If it's any consolation, I read somewhere that Corday said that after the island storyline is over, we will get more traditional and real DAYS... but then again, Corday lied so many times, so, who knows...
I think the show would keep a lot more ratings if there were more Dimera's involved. And I like the 20 somethings. I mean Bo and Hope and all the older actors are great. But people get old. And Some day their gonna die or go off somewhere. I mean all the old characters can't stay on the show forever. So I think that is why we are seeing a lot more of the 20 somethings. Because someday they're going to be the main relationships. I think the whole island thing was dragged on way too much. Then to find out it was Tony and that Stefano isn't comming back. To think of all the times that Stefano supposedly died and now he's really gone and not going to bring him back? I mean come on. He's the Phoenix. I could do without the Belle, Phillip, Shawn and Jan thing though. Way to messed up and far fetched. And Nicole just makes me want to puke. It's just to gross. The fact that she was with Victor and now she wants his grandson. I feel a great place for her would be in jail. And the only way Brady was good was when he was with Chloe. So if she isn't comming back than Brady should go away too. I remember when like every week you watched you could expect to hear another Dimera plot to destroy the Black's and the Brady's. It made it interesting. Now it's how is Jan gonna control Shawn and how is Nicole gonna slut her way into Brady's arms. This is just my opinion though.
I don't think Bo and Hope are older characters??? As for the twenties being the future of the show, I agree which is why I am so disappointed in the quality of that age group and their stories.

JERk has turned everything about DAYS into a big, stupid joke. The DiMeras used to be great til JERk turned Stefano into a joke and now Tony is a joke. Attaching silly characters like Rolf and Bart to them is insulting. Stefano, pre JERk was a scary, intimidating villain and his goons were villains, not stupid jokes. I read this on another board and I think the person had it right. Watching DAYS is like watching the old "Lost in Space" show. If you want to tune in just for laughs, it is great. But it sure is not drama.

Reilly can not write anything! All he ever does is repeats of plots. He can't write a character driven plot if his life if depended on it. This writer needs to go and have a writer that know the history of the show (THE REAL HISTORY write it. Soap Operas are supposed to be about FAMILY, ROMANCE, and LOVE. Not manipulation and LIES like DAYS is now. Ted and Betty Corday left there son a great show and look at the mess he has given to us.
Corday make Huge Mistake Rehiring Reilly in first place none of this Craps have started, NBC used to be have blasts great soap opera until they axed like Another World,Santa Barabra,Sunset Beach if those soap is still here today, I know Rating will go up little-bits, Passions dont improve's Rating in first place still bottoms since first day, why NBC target for younger viewers I not younger I am adults one enjoy Romance,Love storys,adventure,Veterans on Soaps like Y&R, I think Passions should be on WB show because WB have lot younger viewers, I think WB should axed one of Crappy's programs talks show replace Passions on, I am sick of Reilly writing on Days he not a daytime writer he more into Sciecne Fiction,Horror,Junkie craps, I think Corday should have Rehiring Sheri Anderson or a writer who write for Days in early 80's. Sheri one who know about History of Days she only one can bring back Drama,Romance,Adventure. I will be much happy when the time Reilly let go.
I was actually enjoying the show until May. At this point I wonder when I will tune in again. It has nothing to do with the DiMera's. I want to see a good story for John and Marlena together. I want a few of the characters to use their brains. I am sick of in your face plot points. I am tired of anything interesting being either nothing more then red herrings or never explained at all. I am tired of the 'give them what they DON'T want' mentallity of TPTB. I am sick of the short scenes, or no scenes at all between characters I want to see together. I am tired of seeing the scooby gang 24/7. I am disappointed that Days feels they have to be a formula soap and triangles are the only game in town. In short they are turning me off so I am tuning them out.
I DO care about John and Marlena, and want them in a history-filled story together where their electric chemistry is shining through. They belong together.
Im sick of actually watching the show and continuing to enjoy it, despite its 'shortcomings', and getting harrassed for being in the minority. The fact is, i dont care if Days just had the characters on screen saying nothing at all...all i care about is seeing the familiar faces of the characters that i have known and become adhered to over the years. I feel like the characters of Days are like an extended family to me, and if crap comes of their mouths or if their actions are despicable and ludicris, I DONT CARE...sure i do pity the show sometimes but I thank god that my favourite characters are still on screen to grace my TV everyday....people like the dear old Alice Horton (whom ive come to love like a grandmother), Hope, Bo, John, Tony, Jack, Jennifer...even Shawn D! Yet when i watch my favourite show (yes it is still my favourite show although the dismal state it is in) my family and friends chastise me for watching...they tell me 'what are you doing watching this bull-s-h-i-t', then they'll laugh at me...my mates call me a frickin idiot for watching Days...yet what really TICKS me off is that they become transfixed to the screen as well....they diss the show but yet watch it as well...and that, my friends, is what i like to call the 'Riley' effect
Riley likes to p-i-s-s people off...he likes to stir the pot....to rattle peoples cages....because he knows his 'outlandish' antics will get people watching...people tuned in to see their favourite characters being murdered, people tuned in even when unrealistic things were happening like john dodging bullets and jan's crazy fantasies and all that hocus-pocus supernatural s-h-i-t. The point is, people say 'Days is crap', 'riley ruined days' 'days is bull-s-h-i-t, etc, etc' but they still watch....heck even my mom and brother (who said 'days was bull-s-h-i-t and laughed at my face) watch because riley hooks viewers in like fish. they might be 'p-i-s-s-e-d off' fish, but the point is people are watching..and thats why riley is still at the helm. and frankly i am sick and tired of supporting my show and its dear, age old actors/characters to have myself being chastised to hypocritical people who seem to like to critise but tend to eat their own words...after all american entertainment is all about bull-s-h-i-t these days....why do you think the WWE is so popular???
