I'm Hating MickeyNovember 13 2004 at 9:58 AM | Doc |
| They have just destroyed his character. John Clarke had class and depth, whereas Ingle's Mickey is just an idiotic old man falling into the cliche of dumping his family and good sense for the sake of a money-grubbing floosy. Yesterday's scenes were so upsetting b/c Mickey, showing really no affection for Maggie (he didn't even hug her, just kept holding onto Bonnie and attending to her!) and not saying anything as Bonnie cruelly rubbed her marriage/relationship in Maggie's face. It was just infuriating to watch. I kept waiting for Maggie to say to Mickey "Who are you?" and just walk out. They need to get rid of Ingle and Bonnie and bring the real and ONLY Mickey back--I hate it when Days just makes me mad, that's not entertainment. |

It was making me mad too that Mickey never even hugged Maggie and was not acting like someone who just found out that the love of his life, his "soulmate" (which was his words) was back and alive. It infuriated me too, and I felt soo sorry for Maggie. I sure hope Bonnie and Mickey get what is coming to them. It was soooo terrible. |

I couldn't agree more! How could he be telling everyone how happy he would be if Maggie was alive one minute, and almost completely ignoring her the next? I thought it was completely out of character for a couple that's been married "forever"! Maybe once Mickey decides he wants his Maggie back, she'll tell him to go jump off a bridge!
Or better yet, they could pair Maggie with Victor - that would totally chap Bonnie! She's have more money, a bigger house, a better looking hubby, and Maggie would be treated with the class and elegance she deserves! |

Perhaps they will do a storyline on aging and dementia/alzheimers. Afterall they did dramatically increase Mickey's age by the new guy they hired to play him. He looks almost as old as Alice...

I hope JER does not do a dementia/alzheimers story line. My grandmother had this illness and it was very sad. As for John Clark, I think he retired from acting. I do not think John Ingle was the actor to replace JC. Someone hit the nail right on the head, when they said he was Edward Quartermaine not Mickey Horton. |

You don't have a 20 + year relationship and ditch that person for someone else after only one year???? Come on...they have a family together!
Bumbling idiot....that's what this new Mickey is and so are the writers for turning Mickey into this way.

This man is not Mickey Horton. This man is Edweard Quartermaine. No wonder he is so lost and confused! It's too bad the real Mickey disappeared... |

I have been a fan of Maggie and Mickey from the beginning. (Sigh, I remember the red dancing shoes.) I have always wanted them together. But now I just don't care if NuMickey ever speaks to Maggie again. His portrayal of Mickey Horton is bizarre. Maggie wants Mickey Horton NOT Mickey Mouse. |

The thing is I really don't think it is the actor's fault. I think it is the writers. Even before John Clark left, Mickey was turning into someone I had a hard time recognizing.
I personally wonder if that helped his decision to leave when he did - I know it was medical & family reasons, but the timing seemed odd. |

I'm sure the old mickey wanted off this sinking ship when he saw the idiotic direction the writers began taking. This new Mickey has no character or class - actually he is not even a portrayal of a real person at all!! The whole plot doesn't make any sense - is Mickey really dumb enough not to realize that Bonnie is a gold-digger, and not even have any regard for the opinions of his family? The plot is stupid, but what else is new. I guess you can either accept its stupidity and hope for some better writing in the future, or you can change the channel, which is what I have been doing lately. |

They've turned Mickey into a complete bufoon! He was with Maggie for 30 freakin' years, and he doesn't even embrace her? Whoa! The Mickey we knew and loved would have had her in his arms, and been telling her how much he missed her, the moment he saw her! And the things he let Bonnie say to Maggie...that would never have happened either! I was soooo frustrated with his behavior!! |

It is so sad to see what is happening to my favorite characters. I couldn't even picture John Clarke in the role now considering what Mickey has become. |

How could Mickey just stand there and allow Bonnie to brag about their sex life (a disgusting thought in itself!!) to poor Maggie?? I hope Maggie tells Mickey to go take a flying leap when he decides he wants to be with her. Is Maggie really going to live with them?? I guess she should go live with Doug and Julie or something. |

This Mickey is just plain pathetic. I'm glad John Clarke walked away when he did. This Mickey is being written as "an old goat" as Julie said. And scenes like this one, make me hate Bonnie's character more too. She acts like one of those honky tonk girls you used to see in old westerns!
If Maggie can deal with her feelings of rejection, she should go after someone else. As long as this actor portrays Mickey, I can't see him being anything but an old goat! JMO!
I understand they are all going to live together. That should be interesting--and probably sickening at the same time!

Maybe they could have Niel Curtis come back to
Salem and Maggie could start dating him. Then Mickey
would know how Miggie feels now. |

Well, technically Doug and Julie don't have a home in Salem anymore. I believe they were staying with Alice before Doug's "murder", weren't they? Of course, I'm sure Alice would be happy to take daughter-in-law Maggie in...especially after she knows her son has lost his mind! |

Boy oh boy...we have all been complaining a great deal about the direction the show has been going in, but seriously this is the WORST mistake Days has made in quite awhile. Even worse than making Tony the Mastermind (although I still have a slight hope that there is another twist in store for us-fingers crossed on that one).
It was truly the most ridiculous choice to have Mickey standing behind Bonnie, mute and looking pathetic while Maggie stood before them, back from "the dead". The only way to get out of this is for the writers to add in an Alzheimer's storyline (as another poster mentioned) or to indicate that Bonnie took him in for a labotomy when he was napping one day. Whoever directed the scenes with the three of them should be slapped upside the head. Nothing about the whole scenario was believable (and I use the word in a loose way- Salem believable, you know).
Honestly, what are the writers, directors, and producers THINKING? Or, are they thinking at all? |

I just cant believe how they are doing the Mickey/Maggie/Bonnie thing. If it were John Clarke, there is no way he would have forsaken Maggie like this old goat has. I realize it was a shock for Maggie to be back, alive, but geez, he cant even make up his mind whom he wants, as if it should be a choice. She found all her clothes gone, I cant wait til she sees her poor Tuscany, and the pin that Mickey gave Bonnie that was Maggie's! |

As far as I'm concerned, Mickey left Salem or died when John Clarke left. This old geezer isn't Mickey. This story is nonexistent for me the same way Roman doesn't exist anymore. Watching Marlena and Chris K together is preposterous.

Maggie should dump him but not until he see what type
of person Bonnie is. Maybe she will lie to Mickey by telling him she is going to have a baby hoping that
Mickey will choose her if he thinks she is having a baby. He would know she isn't telling the truth since
he can't have kids then he would dump her. Then Maggie
could dump him.By then maybe Victor will be back and
she can start dating him. |

Did anyone go to the 11/18 SOW chat with Janet. I could not believe how she was pushing how great this storyline is. I was disgusted by how she is pushing the party line at NBC/DAYS. I have seen very few people who like this triangle. I cannot believe that the magazine is pushing it as something funny and great. It is insulting, first you have Mickey acting like an idiot and now Maggie probably will go along with his idiot plans. The character of Maggie will have lost all self-respect. When most of the long time couples are still broken up -- and probably in the case of Bo and Hope soon to be broken up -- why do we need this stuff with Mickey and Maggie? It is not humorous, it is not entertaining, it just is pathetic, and straight out of bad JERRY SPRINGER. Is that the type of viewer JER, Corday, and Kalouria want? Is that the type quality of product do they want to promote? It is very sad that no one seems to care about the long time veteran actors, the devoted long time fans who just so happen to be over 30, and the founding principles and themes upon which Betty and Ted created the show. Shame on them all, and shame on the soap rags for being too scared to speak up for the quality, the fans, and the actors.
I am not watching DAYS, nor am I going to buy their magazines since they seem to just be propaganda sheets, and they continue to promote all that is wrong with the show. Don't they realize that it is the actors which sell magazines, when those actors are backburnered or fired, the fans stop watching, and when the fans stop watching folks do not buy their magazines.

The mags sold out to Days years ago. If they don't kiss ass, Dorkday cuts them out of the the loop. That is a big deal since Days covers sell the most mags. It's such a shame.
I can't even see this guy as Mickey. Bonnie is just a piece of annoying trash. |

Mickey said he did not want to hurt Maggies feeling
or Bonnies feelings.I don't care if Bonnies feeling
are hurt.I dont think he cares if he hurts Maggies feeling. If he did care about her feeling he would not have been dancing with Bonnie while Maggie was crying.
Does anyone else care if Bonnies feelings are hurt? | |
