Does anyone else find the combined names of couples (Lumi, Shelle, etc..) annoying? What happened to just saying Lucas and Sami, Shawn and Belle and so on? I am so sick of hearing all of these stupid nick names. No offense to anyone who uses them, this is just a major pet peeve of mine.
the first time I saw the combo names I thought it was dumb and laughed at it. It IS easier to type out the combo names, but seriously it doesn't take too much extra time or effort to write out the full names either. I don't personally get mad about the combos, but I see why you think it's annoying.
I just thought that it was part of the posting jargon, you know? Like LMAO, LOL, FYI, and all those. We humans love to shorten things and make things simpler. Although I prefer to write out the full names, I won't begrudge anyone the right to do the combo names because I always get a little chuckle out of it. For example, Bonne and Mickey together would be "Bonkey" and THAT is funny! : )
I hate them too!! Sometimes I have to sit here and go through a list to figure a new one out! And then there are those who make up their own so you haven't a clue as to the couple!! I'm glad I'm not alone!
I agree "Bonkey" maybe cute but if you hadn't told me what it meant I could easily imagine myself going over to fanfiction.net and reading a summary "Bonkey Love Story" and wondering why Bo and a Monkey are together.
I hate them too, but I couldn't help but laugh when I read someone referring to Jack and Cassie as Jackass! With the exception of that name, they should go. By the way, did all this start with "Bennifer", or what?
thats funny. I never even heard of these nicknames until Ben Affleck/ J Lopez. They probably did get it from soap fans! I guess it makes it easier to write, but as far as I am concerned, I get confused. To much thinking involved for me to figure out what they are talking about.
I don't really like the names either, but I confess that I use them for some couples because I'm so freakin' lazy. It's quicker to type Bope than Bo, and Hope. I don't use them all the time or for every couple. I'll use Bricole for Brady & Nicole, or Bope but I'll type out Jack & Jennifer or John & Marlena. Go figure.
I can't stand the stupid nicknames they have for the characters over at the soapcity forum, such as: WhoreKate/Skankate, BillieGoat, Nicwhore, ShawnDuh, Fauxman, etc.
i like them i just think its an easier way to mention the people that are together with out having to type out the names it makes it much easier that way. dont be ridiculous there not that hard to figure out there usally people who are married or datting or have somthing going on between them i never have a problem figuring.
First, when I started going to message boards almost three years ago, I was confused by these "couple names," if I may call them that. But I caught on -- actually, I asked about them and was very kindly filled in -- at Soap City, no less!
I have seen another board where the nicknames are really hated, and I find it surprising. To me they're fun and convenient. But to each his own. I'll try to remember not to use them here! LOL
HOWEVER -- I HATE the derogatory nicknames some people use for characters and couples they don't like. To me, this is calculated to anger and upset others who are fans of the actors being insulted, and it doesn't make for a pleasant atmosphere. I try not to use such names unless I'm on a board where I'm sure everyone shares my opinion!
On a side note, the funniest "couple name" I ever saw was for Philip Kiriakis and Cynthia, the girl who was so hot for him in high school: Philthia!
