Days needs a Cass Winthrop (Another World character)

A Nonny Mouse
This show seems to lack in witty banter. Everybody speaks in a simplistic manner full of cliches. Days needs a Cass Winthrop like character. An intelligent man, world travelling adventurer just as everyone else is but able to speak in a smart manner.Paired with this type needs to be a spunky intelligent woman always curiuous when a mystery is happening. There is no one to fill the character type on Days except Jack and Jen but they have not been written right in years. Perhaps when all is settled we could see a return to this type with the two but I think a duo couple pairing is in orderto reignite that spark. I would like to see Cass Winthrop on Days, I know he was on Days before, the actor that is. Stephen Schnetzer played Steven Olsen. I do not know if this character was like Cass but it could be a door.

Well if JERk will not write Jack as he should be and considering how he write all the other characters as cartoons I do not see any chance of that happening. Jack and Tony are the only possibilities and you cannot have witty reparté when you are only on once a month for about a few minutes (or in some cases SECONDS) of screen time.
It was so nice to watch Matt and Thaao for the three mintues this week. However, I really hated their dialogue. They are two of the show's best actors yet the dialogue was chessy. I really felt bad for them after their shabby treatment, then being backburnered, only to have that kind of dialogue was so sad.
JERk likes cheap, JERRY SPRINGER like characters, sadly. Even more he has actors who can do it, and their characters have a history of doing it -- as you pointed out about Jack. Yet Bonnie, the idiot Scooby Gang, EQMickey are what he considers humorous and interesting.

OMG, I LOVED Cass. Sigh. He was my favorite character on AW. Him and Felicia. Loved their friendship.
I agree. Days needs a Cass. I wonder if they could buy the rights to the character somehow and have Stephen reprise the role? OMG, that would rock like nothing has ever rocked before.
Of course, with JER writing, Cass would be ruined. >
A character like Cass is too classy for DAYS. Cass was a Cary Grant like character....very charming and suave, yet very funny and at times goofy. Jack sort of has those qualities (I don't really see Jack as classy as Cass - he's got more of a super-sleuth investigator thing happening) but he's not on enough for the audience to appreciate them.
This show has to be restructured. It has to be paced better and characters have to be on 2 or 3 times a week instead of having them on 5 days in a row and then off for 10 days. It's really annoying watching DAYS right now for so many reasons
That is not true about Jack, before JERk got ahold of him, he was very sophisticated. He was very much the blue blood, upper class, Ivy League type of person. Jack was VERY snarky, and especially articulate and literate.
I missed have my favorite soap Another World on, I love Stephen Schnetzer as Cass on A.W. I was huge of A.W. from 1987 to end, I dont think Stephen should be on Days not with this JER writings, lot's A.W. Albums is sorely missed by being on Daytime like Stephen Schentzer,Linda Dano,Charle Keating,Victoria Wynham,Tom Eplin,Jensen Buchanan,Matt Crane,Alice Barrett,David Forsyth,Kale Browne,Anna Holbrook, Carmen Duacan, I dont want see any A.W. on Days, in my wish thinking NBC should bring A.W. back on, of course not happen because of ATWT just killed off Vicky & Jake,I love see more former's A.W. Star crossover on ATWT,I know it not go happen, they should have created another more spin-off new show with A.W. like they did with Sommerst,Texas, I like let's get rid's of Passions need to cancelled, I enjoy Rerun's A.W. all over agains, I cant wait for more 1989 of A.W. good storyline is come up. thanks Soapnet for bring it back, who else out there who watch A.W. on Soapnet who is your favorite storyline right now ?
mine is John & Sharlene,Josie & Matt, Amanda & Sam, Mac & Rachel, Felicia, Mary & Vince I love Anne Heche as Vicky and Jamie, I cant wait for few month from now Frankie Private Eye future love for Cass, I love evil Iris & Evan scheme's I love warm's down earth friendship,Romance,Familie Core on A.W. right now,
none of A.W. dont hold candle like Today's Soap.

Ya think? Maybe it's the fact that Jack seems younger that makes me see him as less sophisticated, although that shouldn't have anything to do with it. Cass had that older man thing happening. Jack's definitely complex, but I don't know, he seems like a non-character to me, solely based on this last few months (I didn't watch regularly pre-JER), which is a shame since I remember watching in the late 80's early 90's and he was something special. Talk about ruining a character.
The truth is that late 80's early 90's AW is far superior to any soap that's airing today. Instead of writing a good story and waiting for viewers to tune in, soap writers today seem to be pandering to an age demographic that they think is really lacking in smarts.

I agree! Totally loved Cass on AW! Days needs him! Some people are going to hate me but, Jack and Jen cannot pull off what Cass could. Jack and Jen are way to Lovey-Dovey...
