I am not the list owner, just a poster, but I would like to make a suggestion.
I think that some of the posters are tired of "complainers" yet other people want to vent. The problem is each group gets into each other's posts.
When someone starts a new post mark it as "Venting Post" or "Complaint Free" - anything like that would do and then those replying agree to respect the boundary.
So if I posted "News about Blah Blah" and said Complain Free Post then anyone who wanted to vent about Blah Blah would start a new post to vent while on the other hand if I posted the same topic and listed it as venting people would stop posting saying if you don't like it stop watching.
This is no way prevents civilizied discussions where someone who is pro Blah Blah works convince someone who is anti- Blah Blah why their character is wonderful and vice versa.
Unmarked posts or posts marked "Neutral" can continue to receive any kind of reply.
Both sides should be able to maintain positive posts and venting posts. Heck, sometimes I have tried to run a positive thread but people kept venting, but other times I have vented and told to quit watching. It really does work both ways.
Sorry Kim if I overstepped, this is just a request from a regular posted who is choosing to remain nameless this time so she doesn't get yelled at. :D
If anyone has a better idea please name it. I just feel that this nonsense is the reason the board as quieted down so much.
the only problem is that some folks are excited by spoilers others are not. In that case what is to be done. It is in these posts that the problems arise. The only suggestion would be NO responses to the spoiler posts -- neither positive nor negative. Frankly, I am tried of people pro-DAYS telling me not to complain. DAYS is just a TV show, if I complain about a TV show and those involved in it it is not sacrosanct, it is not as if I bashed someone's very personal and profound religious beliefs, it is not as though I made racist comments and thus offended someone's ethnicity. I cannot see how making constructive criticism or even opinionated comments is offensive.
Or how about the people that don't like the complaining post, just ignore them.
Just because someone post something doesn't mean you have to reply to it. And to be honest, I find the ones telling people to stop complaining are more annoying and insulting than the ones complaining. People post here because Days is our show. The ones of us that complain, do so because we know how great the show could be and we are frustrated that JER is ruining it. Posting on boards like this with other fans helps ease the frustration.
Why is it hard to simply ignore the complaints? No one makes you reply to them.
Obviously, TIIC at NBC and DAYS are ignoring the complaints. That is why the show is so terrible. There was a time when DAYS would listen to the fans, and promote those characters, played by those actors, the fans wanted. Now it is what TIIC at the network or JER wants. They refuse to read criticisms, they refuse to make the fans happy. They refuse to listen to the long time actors who know their characters' histories and personalities. I remember a time when a character who was not liked was either recast or shipped out of Salem. I remember a time when a very popular actor was given MORE airtime, not fired or put on long term forced sabbatical level.
The facts are that if TPTB were to listen to the fans, to the fans what the MAJORITY wanted, not what the under 30 wanted, then the show would be better, and there would be less complains. In the past when I enjoyed the show I was more tolerant of silliness or inconuity. Now I am so disgusted by the sloppy writing, unimpressive acting by many of those force feed upon me, and the sad disrespect towards the talented actors that I complain even more so. Make me relatively happy and I will be silent, continuously ruin a show I once loved, and treat the actors whom I love poorly, then I will complain more, and more.
I agree with Grace. I believe that if ppl don't like the thread or the complaints then they should just ignore them. I mean like it was said earlier, it's not like were bashing religion or even politics or race. Were just discussing a soap opera. So if ppl want to complain then complain. If ppl don't like the complaining then ignore it. I am a very opinionated person and everyone has an opinion. I might not agree with what someone else said....so I just look past it. This is just my view on the topic though.
I am Pro-Days and over 30. I think we've seen some of the best acting this year...and some of the worst. I am not happy with the current head writer, but he's made me not want to miss the show. Yes, it has dragged on forever, which I could live without, but I am hanging in there for the outcome.
It was the Salem Serial Killer that made me register and post on message boards so I have no other time in history to compare posts to, but sometimes I get so frustrated by what people post. I think everyone needs to remember that everyone is different and therefore have differing opinions of the the shows, the actors, the writers, etc. All of the personalities either come together in unity or they clash, sometimes to the point of one person slandering another, which is entirely uncalled for.
I agree it is just a show. It is not life or death. Nobody is slamming your race, religion, or social status. We are all free to pass by those posts we don't agree with and I wholeheartedly believe that some of us should be required to do just that.
If we feel the need to voice our disagreement, we should be able to do so in a mature manner. Unfortunately, this board is now known as a place that cannot or will not do that anymore.
if I dont like Days anymore, all I just have to do is just stop watch the show, no reason to be Complains all the time, I know this just a Soap Opera's, I do understand's why lot's of Compain's going on lately.I can feel their's own pains. I cant realy blame on them's because how this show is directing now, I know we cant bring back what show we used to love like real storie's Romance, supercouples, storyline's,Familie Tradtions, what I missed on Days, I cant do nothing about it, it just JER,Ken Corday,NBC their decide's not mine they can do whatever's they want to get this how Days is now. let's JER,NBC,Ken make their own 's mistake. like this now more everyday. I just get careless just move on, I just suggested any old fan's if u love old tradition storyline I just suggested watch CBS soaps or ABC, I still watch old rerun of Another World on soapnet more reminds me lot's of old day, what soap used to be,
Hey, I agree. I was tired of being told well there are teens other characters were teens too. I wanted to be able to vent in peace with out always being told to stop.
