I think it is so unfair to our troops overseas how they are portraying Phillip.

For the PIC to have his character on an indefinite leave from the military while our troops in Irag are still there, many of whom like my husband, enlistments were up a year-and-a-half ago, but are still there risking their lives and they have this young, rich, punk kid on leave. It is disgraceful to our troops and a slap-in-the-face to them. So many of our reservists who signed up for 1 weekend a month and 2 weeks a year have been over there for 2 years now. So many have lost their homes because they had to put their careers on hold to earn just a percentage of their old salary in the military and could not afford the house payments. These men and women are missing 2 years of their children's lives and I'm sure you know how much kids can grow in 2 years. These people are going to return home strangers to their children. Now I am hearing they are finally sending him off to Iraq, only to have him die a hero. What crap is this? Days deserves the ratings it is getting lately for being so disrespectful to our troops and it is even more disrespectful everytime they show Phillip in full military garb. And the PIC think they can calm things over by featuring real-life military in Phillip's wedding to Belle. Think again! Days PIC you are all un-American and traitors to our nation.

i can't believe you are trying to equate actual marines to this fictional soap opera character.
I mean I am sorry if some of you are personally tied to the war in that sense, i obviously can't relate and my thoughts are with you but this is a soap and Phillip isn't real and they only said he was a Marine, back in the day, to drive him out of Salem, i doubt they thought the war would happen and get as big as it had, meaning they never thought they would have to right sensibly for it, and i don't think they shoudl have to.
This isn't a soap about war, it is a soap about everything else.

I agree with you Hue....it's fake, it's only a show. If we wanted to see the war, we'd turn it to the news, but this is like a way to get away from all of that. It's not reality, and that's what I like about it. I'm sorry to anyone who has family in the war, I'm not putting that down in any way, I have respect for the war and for every soldier in it, and I'm glad they are fighting the war for our country, but this just isn't tied together. Wathcing Day's is like getting a break from the real things in life.

Put the blame where it goes: JER

This is all a device to get Belle married off to someone else rather than Shawn. I imagine JER would go so far that Philip might come back wounded so Belle has to stay and take care of her new husband. It's just like Mimi's abortion was a device to keep Jan and Shawn together longer. JER has no shame, it's so obvious.

I think it is shameful the way they are portraying Philip as a Marine. Many years ago we were stationed on a Marine base. My husband was in the Navy. I never met a Marine like Philip, and believe me I met many.

Yes, it is a soap and not a real story, but even as a soap they could have made it much more realistic. At the very least, Philip could have been in a special training school nearby and just show up in Salem on the weekend. And they could ship him off to Iraq and have him send letters home for quite a while. No need to suddenly kill him and make him a hero.

The services often lend real Marines, etc. for PR purposes.

I wholeheartedly agree. Philip was in the Marines for what? Less than a year before he got to take months off just so he could concentrate on bedding Belle. Boy that uniform really came in handy didn't it.

I may not agree with the war but I support those who risk their lives to defend our county and having Philip be a Marine is a joke and an insult.

Well, typical JERk. Look how he portrayed abortion. He was offensive to people on both sides of the issue: Those who believe life is sacred, and those who fought hard for a woman's right to choose. Sadly, JERk preverts everything to a triviality. He also did that with organ donation by having Jack, the one person who could not donate organs, doing so, and then we later discover it was some body double. His portaryal of women offends me. He has no love between people, no respect. So I am not surprised that he would write something as offensive as real marines promoting a fictional character who has lived the high life when he supposedly is in the armed forces during a time of war.
