I really wanted it but when i went to walmart and saw the tracklist, i was unimpressed. I love some of the instrumental stuff from the 90s but the music just dont move me no more. Plus, i was scared of the stuff by the actors and afraid it would be cheesy if anything. And the "bonus track" is a song for belle and philip? They probably couldve picked a more popular couple to feature. I ended up getting Vanessa Williams new Valentine CD instead. Its great . But i still may get the DOOL CD. Anybody get it?
A lot of the Days performers give really good performances..Kyle Lowder, Ari Zuker, Nadia Bjorlin, Tanya Boyd, and Peter Reckell. It's nice to hear them perform other than just on Days.
But the CD is really all about Kelly Moneymaker. She produced the CD, wrote or co-wrote the songs and sings on at least half of them..and she has one amazing voice. Kelly can sing in any style and make it sound fabulous. I have heard her sing in person and she is just great.
Kelly's stuff is great and Kyle and Nadia always are terrific. As for the others, I wouldn't quit my day job. When is Peter going to realize he can't sing? And Arienne - oh my gosh - I was embarassed for her.
Well I never thought that Simon should be giving an opinion on anyone's voice. What are his qualifications??? However, you don't have to be a Julliard teacher to know who has a good voice and who doesn't. Peter is ok, Ari's talents lie elsewhere. Not everyone is meant to be a singer, the woman is a great actress and that is where her talents lie. The song was originally meant to be a ballad and yet it was rearranged and doctored to suit her voice. That says something right there.
Oh so that was what that was? I don't care if it was a Verdi aria, I still wasn't impressed by it. Speaking of which, my friend attended that same event, I believe it was in California. Well anyway, I asked her about Ari's singing and she said she rather not give an opinion because her mother always told her to keep her mouth shut when she has nothing nice to say...lol
But that isn't the point. The point is we are giving our opinions, if you enjoy her voice then more power to you, I simply don't and I'm not wrong because of it.
"The song was originally meant to be a ballad and yet it was rearranged and doctored to suit her voice. That says something right there."
Frankly I don't know how you can know what the song was meant to be unless you spoke to the composer herself and had a discussion about the song. Yes it was heard first as a ballad on Days because that is how it suited the mood for the scene on that day. But was that Kelly's original intent to only hear the song one way? How would you know? She obviously would not have chosen this particular song for Ari if she felt that way. What worked on a soap may not be what she envisioned for the song at all.
BrendaSW saw Ari at the Wesley event and liked her..and you had friends who didn't. You are making snide remarks and you weren't even there. I was there also. I liked her then as did many others and I liked her here.
Am I saying you have to like it. Of course not. But it's one thing to say you don't care for it, and it's another to make insulting responses to people who do. "Oh so that's what it was?" I mean, how rude.
"I don't care if was a Verdi Aria? I wouldn't have liked it." Well if it was a Verdi aria I would not have liked it either. Arianne's voice is obviously not trained to do opera..so your point is?
"But that isn't the point. The point is we are giving our opinions, if you enjoy her voice then more power to you, I simply don't and I'm not wrong because of it."
Your point seems to be that your opinion is the right opinion and others who disagree can be insulted. Sorry I can't agree with that at all.

Here we go one more trip around the merry-go round.
I have a feeling I know who this is but then again I have no respect for someone that posts Anonymous.
<<<You are making snide remarks and you weren't even there. I was there also. I liked her then as did many others and I liked her here>>>
Oh I'm sorry, I didn't know that your opinion was the law and because you like her that means the whole world has to like her. So what if you like her?? I don't and my opinion is just as valuable as yours.
I happen to know the person that saw her at the event very very well and we have pretty much the same taste in music, so if she didn't like the way that Ari sang then I have to respect her opinion. But then again, I did go out and listen to the actual song and it still isn't something that I like. The point I was making with the Verdi comment was I don't care what genre she sings in, I still don't like her voice.
See, I don't like my opinion questioned I think I'm old enough to know what I like and what I don't like. It really irks me when there are those that feel they have to go out and convert everyone to their particular view. I don't have a problem with the original poster liking Ari's voice she certainly is entitled to that and by the same token my opinion is just as valid. I think her talents lie elsewhere, she certainly is a talented actress and not everyone is meant to sing. So what?? Does that take away from her in any way???
<<Your point seems to be that your opinion is the right opinion and others who disagree can be insulted. Sorry I can't agree with that at all.>>
Oh and aren't you doing the same exact thing?? I don't believe I was addressing you at all but yet you felt you had the right to just jump in here and start attacking me for my views. So you can climb off your pedestal of self-rightousness because you aren't any better then me.
I never once said that my way was the only way to think, I leave that type of arrogance to you.
Cause I would really like you to show me where I said you have to agree with me. If you look at the middle of the post, I said very clearly you did not have to at all. Here is the quote..
"Am I saying you have to like it. Of course not. But it's one thing to say you don't care for it, and it's another to make insulting responses to people who do." Did you miss that the first time around?
All I was doing was stating that there were two opinions, not trying to convince you of mine. And I thought you were very rude to people who disagreed with you and frankly your last post did not change my mind.
