OT: Someone enlighten me! Being a drug-junkie

Can someone comment or say that they know that a recovering addict can actually last as long as John has? Thankfully I don't know what that's like but how long before the drugs get out of a person's system? And how long before they stop feeling the withdrawals?

It really depends what type of drug or drugs he was using.

im kinda wondering if john is going through withdrawal or if his back is still hurting him. i feel like theyre being a little vague about what his problem actually is and especially about what he's addicted to. most addicts have like a drug of choice and they suffer withdrawal from building up a tolerance and/or dependence to a specific drug. now they may take other drugs to counter act the effect of withdrawal of the drug they become dependent on but i never really saw john stick to a single drug. i know he was injecting pain killers and now he would be considered a pill popper. but they keep using the very general and vague label "drugs". he just goes to the dock to get "drugs". any one will do i guess. but he wouldn't suffer withdrawal immediately from any and every "drug" he comes across. he has to take them at least a few times before having a reaction like withdrawal. if you notice the pills that he's taking are not all the same pills. most of the are white but some are red and some look like tablets and some look like gel-caps. it's just way too general to be believable. i can tell who ever is writing this storyline has very little if any experience in the area. hey and good for them cuz that's not a healthy lifestyle to be involved in but just like the abortion storyline and the marine/military storyline they could've handled this a lot better.

Growing up I had three uncles that did hard drugs, they lived next door with my grandmother. I remember several times them going through withdrawl. It seemed to last for about a week, maybe longer. Unfortunatley they always ended up using again. Two of them passed away in the last couple of years and the other suffered a major stroke last year. The two that died never stopped using until the day they died. They did not die from drug overdoses but from heart attacks because of years of drug use. In my opinion Days is not showing a person going through withdrawl accurately. I remember one of my uncles becoming very mean and insulting everyone including my grandmother who took care of him. I don't think John has been this way to Kate, but since I hardly ever watch I could have missed it.

don't forget. That way b4 Belle's wedding that John was being secretly injected by the mystery guy(TEK?) all while he was in the hospital, so that could be why john is having such a hard time.
