I haven't watched for over a month. I don't know who is where nor do I really care. I assume JERk is still writing as DAYS continues to drop in the ratings. Who cares about Austin and Frankie; both were boring. I wouldn't mind seeing a Justin and Adrienne reunion. Otherwise, this show is slowly dying. AMC Rules!!!!!!!!
I have seen maybe one episode in maybe 6 weeks. After about 25 years (26 minus the time the possession was front and center) I thought I would be in withdrawal, but 'cept lurking here it hasn't been that bad. I am surprised and saddened that I don't miss the show more.
After 34 years I no longer watch either and don't miss the trash that is on now. I DO miss the DAYS I use to watch. I hope the show can survive Reilly and come back again if TPTB ever come to their senses and get rid of him. Ken Corday should be ashamed of the way he has run his folks show into the ground.
I'm a busy college student and back in the Fall of 2003 I started getting really behind, but taped the show well into 2004. Eventually I was so behind and then I read what was going on now and it just sounds awful, so I haven't seen an episode since October '03... I even missed Maggie's murder episode! But I just don't care. Days was so good when I first tuned in at the end of 1996 and was watchable for a while before the awful summer of Temptation Island and then I thought it was redeeming itself, but now it's just tripe. Makes me sad. I wish they'd fire Riley and get back to what the show used to be.
i've been a loyal viewer for about 7 years, every single day kind of loyal - and i haven't watched in months. every now and then i tune in but it's still the same old storylines and i can't relate anymore. i watch the OC now for a soap opera fix but i miss my regular daytime soaps. i think it's ok to post about it. i never thought i would outgrow days but i've completely lost interest.
i came here to see if there was any news about ali sweeney, curious how her baby is and when she's returning.
I've had Kim's site bookmarked for a few years now and check it sometimes and was reading some of the negative opinions on its current status and thought I'd throw in my two cents
Thanks for going out of your way to make someone feel dumb
Don't sweat the unnecessary reply you got from your two cents. Apparently, some people only want people on the board who are "Stepford Viewer" happy with whatever gets thrown at us from TIIC. They're happy with it and think that everyone else should be too, so if anyone does share a different opinon, they get "tired of hearing the negativity" or "confused as to why people who don't like the show continue to write about it," etc., ad nauseum. Personally, I thought this was a forum to discuss ALL aspects of Days, including the things we don't like. But then again, I haven't watched Days in months, so what do I know?
I am glads I did right thing tuned out in first place, I used love Days now I just hardly dont careless anymore, I stopped when the "Captives almost make to home" last years, I missed "old Days" I wish it bring back what show used to be love stories,Romance, real stories, adventure, what happen to Days used to be best daytime soaps, used to be wins emmy, best show etc.... not like this with JER, Gimmick, flashback,Craps I like say SHAME on this at Corday JER,NBC for let this happen in first place, what happen why they dont listen the fans ? I did write a letter or emailed they never Returns or answer it back to me NONE of it disrespect the fans loyals, Ken Corday is big "****" Liar's, I am point big finger at him, he is train wrecks on daytime , he dont learn anything from his parent, I am glads his parent dont see like this being happen, Nobody Force you to watch Days, I just simple switch watch another Soaps, I enjoy Old Classic Another World on Soapnet, it so greats I am relieve it all over again, it remind me lot's what Soap Opera used to be, see No Soap's make like A.W. Today , Today Soap's is not the same anymore, really sad to me. A.W. is my grandparent first soap watch A.W. like my first family Tradition's soaps next to my grandparent my mom my older sister me, Yes A.W. really sucks before it Cancelled. when I watch A.W. make part of me wish it was on today's not PASSIONS,I hate for Passions replace by A.W. and Sunset, I and my grandma still talk about A.W. Today's we talk about today's Rerun 1989 of A.W. it so fun and exicited like Reminds of your old time sake, it greats, dont you have your grandparent or parent or Aunt or Uncle or anybody sit down next to you watch your soap together's and talk about it ?
My history with "Days" goes back almost 30 years. That includes watching some episodes when in the summer as a kid. Some people may call threads like this negative, but the truth hurts sometimes. The show has set record lows twice in the last four weeks(2.4 this past week). I have gone through frustrating times with "Days" through the years, but this is first time I have gone months(and months)without watching. I read recently(I think on this board in fact) that Corday feels JER is the only one that can save the show from this ratings slide. This man is in denial. JER gave the show a ratings spike during his first six months, but the ratings have slipped back to and below where they were when he took over. I wish the network visited boards like Kim's and realized that there are fans who love this show, and want it to survive. We just can't bear to watch what it has become. A boring and repetitive mess. I apoligize to anyone who is happy with the current state of the show. You have a right to your opinion, but many longtime fans don't seem to agree. The ratings slide is proof of that. JER's verion of "Days" is unrecognizable to the show I've watched over the years. Time will tell if the show will ever return to something I can watch with enjoyment.
I agree with this last response. The producers and writers are currently trying to redeem the mess they have created. Part of ending of these current poor taste and poorly written stories will begin this week. The all time low demographics the show has fallen to is helping the producers with a reality check in regard to what fans don't want to see. However, I don't think JER has the ability to write consistent good stories. He likes the sensatinal and "shock and awe" tactics, but he doesn't know how to pace a story or the value of keeping characters true to their established traits. He is always trying to twist them into something sensational, unrealistic, and untrue to who they have been. He can't seem to create exciting stories based on the positive qualities that characters have established over the years or to balance comedic and dramatic qualities within a story. His antagonist characters become too dark and evil and his protagonist characters become whining, futile victims. 50% or better of each show padded with flashbacks and repetitive scenes doesn't help. I love the actors on this show. I just wish the executives would find some writing team capable of writitng for them before the show gets cancelled.
Try not to let those types get to you. Obviously, there are a lot of people who would probably post sometimes even if the show was off the air. We like to remember the show we loved and keep hoping that we will find a reason to want to watch again.
Hey, I belong to a MacGyver group and that show has been off the air nearly 15 years and it is more active than this list.
i haven't watched an episode of DAYS since mid December.
It's actually pretty sad. I was ridiculously dedicated to this show from April 1996 until December 2004. I actually stopped being so dedicated around the Serial Killer thing.....not caring if i missed an episode or two.
All it took was one inconsiderate Head Writer to turn this 8 year viewer off the show.
I didn't just like it, i was obsessed. I bought tapes off people on the internet.....i spent HUNDREDS of dollars on clothes and paraphenelia at the NBC store and other places.....I spent a collection of many many months on different actors websites, downloading audio and video clips from the show, and definitely spent more than my fair share of time on message boards, writing and talking about the show and the actors.
I bought books, and tapes, and ANYTHING that was DAYS related.
Granted my obsessed started when I was only 12/13, I was just so dedicated to this show. It was part of my daily life.
And now......i wouldn't say it is all forgotten, but it has definitely diminished.
I don't mean for this to sound so dramatic, but to be so involved or dedicated to something, for such a long time, and to suddenly have that stop.........it makes me upset.
In the grander scheme of things, it is probably for the best because at my worst time of obsession (end of high school, beginning of college) it was definitely taking over my life, scheduling my classes around 4:00pm so i could watch it live.
It is always fun to escape to the Soap World, but I think my frame of mind is a little healthier without it.
in any case, for those who keep watching, send me an email and let me know if the head writer ever changes and the show gets back to how it once was.......mid 90's,......bring that **** back
peace out.
I forgot to mention.....as I just remembered.
There used to be this ONE website, way back in 1997 or 1998, it was called "Pauline's Days of our Lives song page" or something. People would write parodies about DAYS characters to the tunes of other songs.
I wrote SO MANY songs for that site, she posted most of mine too, it was so exciting.
My best I think was to "my favourite things" from sound of music. --> It was called "Keeping Them Separate Day After Day"
The only two verses that I can remember writing:
"Bo, Hope and Bilie are a love triangle.
Since Franco came he got them in a tangle.
Bo loves Hope but Bil-lie is in the way.
Keeping Them Separate Day after day."
and
"Watching Ab-by makes me feel homocidal.
Since she can't act there's no way she's my idol.
Jenn is with Pe-ter much to Jack's dismay,
Keeping Them Separate Day after day."
(remember those terrible twin girls who played abby for like 8 years!)
