YOU are aware that the date also automatically appears under your title? I guess you're not aware.

Yes, I'm aware of that. But when someone is looking at the front screen all that shows up is the titles and the date and time of the last post. Some people have a bad habit of bumping up a very old thread (like from last June) and if the current date is not on the title the reader doesn't know without going into the thread if it was started today, last month or last year. I'm pretty sure that's why Kim posted that.
