For Chrissy04 and KathyNYC re: Daytime Emmies

I am definitely going to be a seat filler. I got a confirmation. Are either of you doing this or are you buying a ticket this year? Since you were both familiar with the seat filling and I've never done this before, can you please tell me if anyone brings cameras or talks to the celebrities, inspite of the rules that you're not supposed to. I would love to chat with the DOOL stars if I get the chance to sit near them. The person who sent me the confirmation did tell me though that there is a lot of moving around-how long do you actually sit in one spot? Can you tell me anything else about your experience doing this? Would you do it ever again? Thank you for any information you can share with me about this.

Seat filling was a lot of fun!

May 9 2005, 7:49 PM

But no, I don't think I am going back this year. I didn't think I was going to be available that weekend because of family committments and I didn't ask to be considered again.

No you are not supposed to bring cameras and cell phones. They made some people check them at the door for safekeeping though a few people did still have them...not sure how they got away with it. But I left mine at home.

Wear comfy shoes..you do stand around A LOT and sometimes you move around a lot. I was lucky enough to only wind up in three places all night...once in the back waiting to be called, and then twice up front and right in the Days section. I was in the second row for about 20 minutes before they asked me to move but then I was in the 8th row for almost the entire show..I only moved again for the last 15 minutes. But some people were moving every few minutes.

The only thing you really need to do is get there on time..or early. They actually call more seat fillers than they need. I think they used 200 last year...so if you arrived after that number, you were out of luck. They let you sit in the back but you didn't get to do the seat filler part..which is most of the fun!

Anyway..have a great time!

Oops..I forgot to answer one thing..

No you are not supposed to talk to any celebrites period when you are sitting in the audience as a seat filler. They are very strict about that. I mean if someone asks you a question, you are supposed to be polite answer but if not, you don't say anything! I was standing near Kyle Brandt at one point when I was waiting to be told where to sit. He recognized my face from a Days event I was at earlier..and he asked me what I was doing there? I just said I was a seat filler and then I had to move on.

Also it's a huge theater and you may not even be near any Days actors. It was just a fluke I wound up in the Days section last year. They tell you where to go in groups..I just happened to be in the right place. My friend Lisa wound up in another part of the theatre and she found herself in the ALL MY CHILDREN section if I remember.

They are less strict about talking to the actors when they actors are arriving and walking down the aisles. Lots of fans were screaming and waving and smiling at that time..and it was ok. But that is about it!

Thanks Kathy NYC-just a few more questions

That was great info! Thanks so much, that really helps. I have a dilemma with shoes though. They tell you to dress up, so I guess that means heels too. What did the seat fillers wear and how high were the heels? I would love to wear a flat heel but it really wouldn't go with my outfit. Did they turn seat fillers away on the basis of what they were wearing?

Everyone was fairly dressed up..

May 10 2005, 12:10 PM

most women in long dresses, though some in short also. I wore a long dress so you really couldn't see my feet that much.

I did wear small heels and I was fine. I would just not wear my most uncomfortable highest heeled shoes. That's would be totallly unnecessary. I didn't use the "nicest" shoes I owned to wear with my dress but I wore a decently nice pair and it was fine. Not too many people were really interested in my feet...LOL. In fact..no one!

Thanks Kathy-that's very helpful

Thanks Kathy. I'm all set now. I'll post a message here when I get back from my trip next week. I'm leaving for NY next Thurs. morning. When I've been in NY on Emmy weekend in the past, I have even run into DOOL stars on the street! So, if I can't talk to them at the awards show, maybe I'll be lucky enough to see one or two of them hanging around. Last year I was sitting right next to Ken Corday when we went to see Gypsy!

Surprise, suprise..

May 16 2005, 8:29 PM

I just got an email from the seat filler people. I guess they saved my name from last year so i just got asked to go again.

Fortunately my weekend conflict has coincidently been moved to Saturday..so it looks like I probably will be going also.

We will have to compare notes!

I was at the Emmies last night

May 21 2005, 3:51 PM

Hi Kathy. I'm sorry I didn't check back in here sooner, so I saw that you were able to make it but it was too late. I would have loved to have met up with you. What were you wearing last night? I had on a black long dress- I have shoulder length black hair and I ended up in the middle section, behind the boom unfortunately. I was only used inthe last 10 minutes of the show and got a seat in the first row then. I was sitting beside the ladies from the View and Martha Byrne was 2 seats over.

After the event was my highlight-my husband and I went for a drink. While we were sitting there I saw the back of a guy's head in the distance going to the restaurant part of the bar, talking to the hostess and I knew right away that it was Drake! By the time I caught up to where he was headed, I couldn't find him! I spoke to the host at the restauant, who told me that NBC was holding it's private party there. My husband and I stayed for dinner and the Host placed me at a table right next to the door of the party.

I got to meet Peter when he came out and Drake, my favorite chatted with me and took the time to let my husband snap some photos. I also spoke to Alison and she got into one of my Drake photos too. Isn't that amazing that I would coincidently be at the same place that they would be havinjg their party? Unbelievable! I'm still floating!

Anyway, I've got to go, because we're still in NY and we are going to the theatre soon. Maybe next year, if you're doing this again, we can meet up. Do yo want to chat further-maybe we can exchange email addresses through Kim.

Let me know how your evening was. What were you wearing?

Yes I was hoping to see you also..

May 22 2005, 10:32 AM

I had this urge to ask "Dana" or one of the workers to ask for "rainbow"..but it was so busy there, it seemed like they would not have had time. I was also in the middle section..right in the front row most of the time. I wore a dark red dress..shorter in the front, longer in the back.

I was lucky to be used more than you were. I sat in General Hospital area most of the time. I sat in Ingo Radamacher's seat for almost 50 minutes when he was backstage and on stage..in like the 3rd row near the stage. I taped the show and I can see myself sitting behind Merv Griffin after he got his lifetime achievement award..and then I was standing up when he got a standing ovation.

I also sat for a very short time near the end of the show in the Days area but almost all of the Days actors had already left. The only person I saw there still was Martha Madison. We are not really allowed to speak to the actors...unless they speak first. She just said Hi and I said..Hi, i would see her in LA for the Days fest in two weeks and she said she was looking forward to it. That was about it.

Oh I also saw kirsten Storms. She was sitting in the back of the GH area..I just noticed her when I was racing back up the aisle.

Glad you got to meet some of the actors after the show. They are really nice aren't they?
