I'm not a very big fan of recasts, I still don't accept John Ingle as Mickey Horton.

Others I could NEVER accept as a recast would be:

(1) Tony--Thaao IS Tony, and if he ever left, I would never watch this show EVER AGAIN!
(2) Hope--Again, Kristian IS Hope
(3) Alice--NEVER in a million years, I would be so upset if that ever happened
(4) Bo--Even though it's been done before
(5) Sami--Alison IS Sami
(6) Kate--Lauren has made Kate her own
(7) Shawn--Even though I'm annoyed with his character lately, he looks so much like Bo & Hope, that the 3 of them could pass a real family, and I will always love Jason for that!
(8) Doug & Julie--They are it
(9) Lucas--Even though his character sucks right now, Bryan is the Lucas in Sami & Lucas
(10)Stefano--I love Joe Mascalo, and a Stefano recast would never be acceptable

Mrs Hall, I could never acept a Marlena recast. She is the best, I whish they would give her an emmy already.

Over half of your list are characters that have been recast. Thats funny! I guess there is some recasting that actually works!! It just hasn't happened in the past 5 to 8 years!

Stefano was re-cast in 1990 for around a month in a storyline in Mexico.

Lauren Koslow is the second person to play Kate Roberts.

Sami, Hope, and Shawn have all been played by others when the characters were younger.

I personally don't think anyone could fill Elieen Davidson's shoes as Kirsten Blake, Susan Banks, Pelopny Kent, Sitster Mary, and Thomas Banks. Somehow Elieen managed to make each one of her characters have a distinct personality and I'm sure she was well paid for doing so.

No one else could play Victor or Vivian (even tho Marji Dasiy played Vivian while Louise Sorel was off the show temporarly).

The only person that can't be recast - as far as I'm concerned - is Alice.

All the others - Kristian, Deidre, any of them could be recast just fine. I used to think no one could replace Melissa's Jennifer - but they did and I got used to her. I still think Melissa brings something special to the character that no one else could, but I'd accept a replacement in time - I did once, I can again.

All these actors are special and bring something special to their roles, but their not irreplaceable. Any good actor could replace them and I'd accept them.

It's funny but on Y&R, after I don't know how many years of Jack being played by the guy who plays him (don't remember his name) I still see him as the replacement. When you love an actor in a role, and they leave that role, I don't think you ever really get over them, but you learn to accept the new guy.

Roman - Still have not accepted Josh as Roman.
Sami - sometimes I love her, but most of the time I hate her, but I could never accept anyone else playing her.

Grant it, I would prefer not to imagine a recast (or in some cases re-recasts) of Sami, Jack, Julie/Doug, Maggie, Hope, Victor, Lucas, or Tony. If we are looking at past characters add Vivian, Ivan, Eugene, and Shane to the list.

However, only Alice should be recast proof.

I Just couldn't accept John Ingle as Mickey Horton. I think that this was a huge mistake. Everyone whom writes in thinks along the same lines. He was just too old for Maggie, who is a beautiful person. She's so elegant looking and he's so brash looking. Not even to mention too old looking. He's almost 80 years old. She's in her early 60's. He could be her father. JERk has made many blunders with this soap. I've been watching this soap since it's first day and I look at it now with much astonishment. His recasting stinks!!!!!!

Sami, I think she is the best actress on the show!

I know that Bo and Hope have been played by others but I would hope that before they would ever recast, they would ride off into the sunset again!

I would love to see Shawn recast. He is stuck in high school mode and I really think he can;t act...maybe if he is on the show another 20 years he'll turn into Drake(another non-actor but I guess we just get used to him and his expressions). Martha carries Jason in every scene as well as Dedire carries Drake!

marlena and alice. they seem to have been the staples of the show at one time or another. I would sooner have the character of Alice die than have a recast.

I could also never accept a Steve or Kayla recast. at one time, they were more popular than Austin & Carrie, Bo&Hope, John&Marlena.

Marlena, Bo and Hope, Sami and Shawn...are also recasts I would not accept

or Kim and Shane for that matter

For me, it's been proven that Micky and Roman can't be recast. I still cannot accept Josh and Quartermaine. Recasting a 40-yr-veteran is ridiculous. And Roman was part of a supercouple. Once someone has achieved a supercouple status, they should be left alone. There are currently Marlena & John, Bo & Hope, and Jen & Jack, Doug & Julie, Micky & Maggie. There hasn't been a new supercouple in 15 years or more. I don't accept Sami & Lucas - he's hit her so many times, I've stopped counting. Sami is a lost character to me - she took pleasure (giggled) when she thought Jan died only because she could use it to frame Mimi. She has no conscious. She's an evil sociopath. (Boy, am I going to get it from Lumi fans now!)

I digress.

..after the Jan stuff that she witnessed and had a good laugh over I thought the same thing, and was very surprised that more people didn't mention how disgusting it was. It made the character completely and utterly unredeemable (that's not a word is it?) but lack of fan outcry about this also made me wonder how beyond help DAYS is. If longtime fans can accept that behaviour from someone that they are rooting for in a couple then maybe DAYS is already beyond hope.

About recasts..

All could be replaced and I would adjust if the actor was good enough. Today I was watching Marlena and thinking of who I could see playing the part and I came up with a few names.

The only one I can't see being recast is Alice.

I think Jason Cook does a very good job portraying Shawn, I think he makes the character very beleivable( not all of them can do that)

Lol do yall ever notice when johns face does that curious look or something at the end of the scenes where his left eye squint and lip thoes the elvis thing lol

Belle! It's been over a year now () since Kirsten Storms left, but I still can't and won't accept anyone else in the role. They all just fall flat compared to the life and charm Kirsten brought to the role of Belle Black. Her Belle was my all-time favorite character.

Also, I could never accept a recast of pretty much everyone on the show, except Mimi, Rex, Bonnie, Chloe, Patrick, Abigail, Chelsea, Max, Mickey, Philip and Billie - now those are the characters I could easily accept recasts for.

I don't "like" any recasts of major characters...that said, I would accept evenually any of them being recasted. I think that the character will have to change...the new actor needs to make the character their own...

I suppose if i could guess more than one, then i would also say Hope, Kristian Alfonso...other than that, i don't care.
