Jason stood there in shock at Kirsten’s question. He couldn’t believe what he was hearing.
“What???” He said in amazement.
“Will you marry me??” Kirsten replied, with hope in her eyes.
Jason looked down at the floor before he regained his focus and starred into Kirsten’s beautiful blue eyes. Kirsten starred back waiting for an answer. Hoping that he would say yes, because if he didn’t her life as she knew it, was over.
“YES!! YES!!! Of course Kirsten!! I love you!! I’ve always loved you and I want to spend my whole life with you!!” He said happily and very sure of himself.
“You do?? You really do??!!” She said now in a bit of shock herself.
“YES!! I mean....I’ve wanted to ask you for a long time now. But.. I was afraid that you would say no.. because of your age, and your parents.”
Kirsten’s facial expression suddenly changed from a happy smile to a gloom serious look.
“What is it Kir?? Is something wrong?? Did something happen to your parents??” Jason asked now with worry on his face.
“NO!! No! Jason their fine its just.......”
“Just what?”
Kirsten took a deep breath and said, “My parents know about us and have forbidden me from seeing you.” Kirsten looked down at the floor. She couldn’t look him in the eye. It was too painful to think about what his reaction may be.
“Kirsten.” Jason said as he came over to her and stroked her head. He pushed her short blond hair out of her beautiful blue eyes and kissed her forehead. Then he said, “Remember our talk before you left?”
“Mmm..hmm” She said while she nodded.
“Well, I meant what I said before. I won’t let anyone or anything come between us. I love you. I have always loved you, and I always will. Sure it may be hard at first but I’ll take care of you. We both have good jobs, and make good money. We can make it on our own. Without our parents help.”
“You mean it Jason!! You really mean it!!” Kirsten said with a smile on her face.
“I sure do. In fact....”
“What?” She said knowing the look on his face.
“Why don’t we elope?”
“ELOPE?” Kirsten said surprised.
“Yeah! Vegas isn’t that far away. We could be man and wife by morning. I know a guy who can take care the marriage license and everything. All you need to do is say yes. Say you’ll marry me tonight!” Jason said.
Although Kirsten did want to marry Jason and spend the rest of her life with him, she she couldn’t help but think back to her child hood dreams of her wedding day. She would be dressed in white satin with white flowers along the edges. Her father would be as handsome as ever in his new tux walking his oldest daughter down the isle of the big beautiful church. Her little sister would be her maid of honor. All of her closest and dearest friends would be there, as well as her family to celebrate her big day.
Could she give all that up for eternal happiness with Jason. Could she elope with him without her parents and friends being there.
Jason starred at her waiting for an answer.
“Well, Kir.. what do you say? Will you run away with me tonight and become my wife??
