Cindy, you are younger and somewhat less conservative than most of the people who sit on the other side of the table. If these outfits strike you as inappropriate, imagine what someone who is almost 70 would have thought?
This is something that people in their teens and 20s need to be taught. It's not that you have to wear something YOU and your peers think is appropriate. It's that for interviews and for work you have to dress in a way that someone 20-40 years your senior thinks is appropriate. Of course sometimes I see moms and daughters wearing about the same tacky outfits so it's rather obvious that a lot of young people are not getting any kind of guidance at home.
People judge us by our appearance. That's mean and awful and unfair. But it's true. So just know that if you dress like a skank people will assume that's what you are. It is the message that was sent and you can't fault the receiver for correctly interpreting the message.
