Response to Met Audition Question from Young Singer

Darren Keith Woods, frequent adjudicator for the auditions, has touched upon this subject before in prior posts. If I find one, I'll post the link.

To be quite honest with you, I do not recommend entering The MONC for "feedback" or just to see how you develop. If you want all that, just go see a great voice teacher or coach.

However, if you sound like William Warfield brought back to life and you are ready for the process, then by all means enter and see how you fare. Bear in mind that I don't know you or have never heard you sing.

You are 21 so you have nine more years of eligibility; who knows what will happen during that time. What I recommend - and wish I had did in my early twenties - is to attend a District and a Regional round first, then audition. Albeit, I am assuming that you have never attended one. If you watch one first, you will develop an understanding of how it goes what is expected of you should you enter. You will also get a chance to meet potentially future colleagues, admins, and even sponsors.
