| I'm not affiliated with this ebook or real book by any means, but a majority of the information that the site offers for a thousand bucks or more can be found in "What the Fach" for less than 30 bucks including shipping.
If you know how to use babelfish translations/German dictionaries reasonably well, you should be able to translate all of your materials (resume, CV, cover letters--two versions, one to agents one to houses), and follow up emails...without much problem.
As for finding addresses to send things to--
If you're doing the email route you save tons of money, and you can find at least SOME contact info., if not the KBB direct address by going through operabase and then directing your search to the opera company's own website.
Regarding your post below about having someone do this FOR you...
How connected is 'connected'?
I mean, are they affiliated with an opera house and can get you a house audition in one place? Two?
That's what a German agent is for--I would suggest that you approach those via email or snail mail (some prefer snail mail...read the websites and requirements)...see whether they will hear you, and if they like you, THEY are in charge of setting up House auditions for you.
Bottom line--I would NOT pay a thousand bucks to do this, nor would I pay someone who is not an agent to 'manage/request' auditions for you.
Having someone who is German-speaking is a plus for composing, email-sending, etc..but in the end, you still have to show up at the audition and speak German or some level of German with the agents/houses that you just wrote to in German.
