one of my good friends got one as well

There are some things which cannot be learned quickly, and time, which is all we have, must be paid heavily for their acquiring. They are simple things, and because it takes a man's life to know them, the little new that each man gets from life is very costly and the only heritage he has to leave.

I also got an offer yesterday via e-mail...

December 4 2006, 7:01 AM

and I did one of those long distance auditions. I know there was an earlier thread about whether or not offers were ever made to people who didn't do call-backs, so I thought I would share that it happened to me. Good luck to everyone!

Do they notify alternates via email as well?

December 4 2006, 4:48 PM

Just curious. I have no clue if they even do the alternate thing.

It means ...

December 4 2006, 5:43 PM

First alternate means that they are the first alternate for a specific position, eg. the soprano covering Fiordiligi. Then, if that person can't accept, they move to the alternate for THAT set of offerings ...

Question about Santa Fe singers

December 5 2006, 2:33 PM

Just wondering if SF accepts its young artists based on the covers and what operas they are doing, or if they take "wildcard" singers that may not necessarily cover anything, but who they think are good anyway.

....still somehow hoping that they are accepting all the people they want to cover first and wondering if it's at all possible that I may still hear from them....

I think I fit that categorey, SK. I had two covers that were about 2-4 lines each. Ha!

Love,
