I am not having much luck thinking of anything that shows everything Glitter shows without actually singing it. Most pieces with this range that I know are not really for an ingenue. Can anyone help me think of something? I have two students auditioning-I think one of them will sing Should I be Sweet, but the other one doesn't have anything really suitable-I am thinking of maybe a 20's or 30's operetta thing, but it would be great if someone could jostle my brain:)
When you say you're looking to show off the exact same things as in Glitter and Be Gay, are you talking about every single thing? The spoken parts, the facetiousness, the range, the coloratura? All of the above?
Yes I would like something that has a fast and slow section in English that shows the top. These are musical theater sopranos-more Chenowith and Cook types than classical singers. But they both sing the shit out of Glitter and be Gay-the company they are singing for doesn't want to hear Glitter over and over which I guess I understand-but what piece comes anywhere near it? I certainly never sang one that was not from an opera.
