I was told that because it sits against your cervix, it slowly releases the hormones at a steady level, as opposed to the Pill, which causes hormonal spikes when you take it, and then they fall as it's absorbed.... over and over every day. So, for me, the Ring doesn't make me crazy or gain weight, etc.
I actually lose notes when I'm not using birth control because my periods are so bad. The NuvaRing keeps me able to sing the same all month long. Without it, I have about 3-4 days of very swollen tissues and lose at least 3 half steps at the top... plus feeling like it's just a lot more work to get it out there.
I would agree with other posters, though. There are a LOT of options; keep trying!
